Idiots Guide to Selling on Ebay please??

I want my husband to set up an ebay shop but have no idea whether it should be a personal account or a business account - does it make any difference?

Also does anyone have any ideas on how to sell cost effectively - I have always found that I end up making a loss after I pay paypal and listing fees so what am I doing wrong?

Can you give me any other hints and tips please?

what are you selling? personal or business stuff?

A bit of both. We have a lot of batteries and razors and that sort of thing that we want to sell on but none of it has been bought to sell on, they are old samples from his previous jobs.
