HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My dh is putting a dado rail up in our passage cos our cats are ruining the bottom of our wallpaper and we thought that if we split the wall, then we would only have to replace the bottom part. Trouble is, he can't work out how to angle the joint at the bottom of the stairs, cos IYKWIM it isn't as simple as just putting a 45 degree angle on a normal piece of wood (so I'm told!!!) Any ideas/suggestions?

I hope your DH figures out how to do it, I'm trying to work the angles out in my head and can't figure it out either

I think the problem is that the "pattern" bit (Torus or whatever) doesn't match right if he does just a normal angle. I don't know much really .......

if you have a few off cuts of dado rail have a practice with them first

Hee hee - we have tried that (and pieces of card and everything else!) but I did tell you I am not very practical, didn't I?
Sorry - got to go and make food now, but keep posting any ideas - I think he is doing the easy bits now and leaving the stairs till he's got some better ideas?????

did u know they sell them in b&q??? it would have saved u waiting for an on-line delivery, they are about £5.oo, we just had to buy 1.. we have about 3 already but since we moved in this house i just cant find anythink.. yes they are a life saver they help u do the job much quicker... as they cut the angles perfect, just pop in the wood and cut.. there brill.. dp managed to do dado rail in twins rm in an evening.. if i knew thats what u needed id have said go to b&q.. its funny because when i read ur post saying dp was having trouble cutting the angles i asked dp why maybe ur dp was having trouble, but dp said its easy, now i know u needed a cutting block it explains all, it would be difficult to put up the rail without the cutting block as dp says the angles have to be cut at the right degree or they will never match.... least he can get cracking now....... look forward to seeing pics.

thats expensive.. maybe its a totally different thing to the one we have... im glad i didnt have to fork out that much id have said sod the dado rail...... i thought theyd all be the same.... ours is just a black hard plastic box thing, with lines cut into it were the saw goes in... it even came in handy for cutting the coving to join those corners... then again theres so many things out these days all different names, but i bet half of them do probally do the same thing. do u have dado rail in other rooms or is ur dp gonna be on a dado rail misson like mine would lol...... i remember the 1st time dp put up dado rail in our brm, he enjoyed it that much he did a double rail and put a border between them, it actually looked very nice..

Ah no we have one with lines through it that join corners but this one does angles (up stairs and things) too that the other one doesn't do.
He has nearly finished but I can hear him playing with the cats now!!!

"My dh is putting a dado rail up in our passage cos our cats are ruining the bottom"
i fail to see how putting dado rail up you "passage"will help, in my opinion you should'nt let cats near your bottom.
