Already had one and im working on what they have said. So i can swallow my pride and take it on the chin what every you may think. I know some of you already have clothes web site and have been on here for along time and im not wanting to tread on any toes. The site is www.babyjaysfashion.co.uk.

Thanks

Hi Kerry and welcome to MZ. I think it would be good if you could make your image sizes uniformed on the catergories.

Hi Kerry,

I hope this helps and doesn't come across as critical, websites are so personal, it is hard to give constructive advice on them.

Can I suggest that you move the introduction about why you set up the site to an "about us" page - people generally want to see product when they come on to a website and your front page should be loaded with keywords so that the search engines find it. (Mine has a lot of text on there at the moment because we had a major story hit the papers this weekend and I wanted the main points on the front of the website but normally the home page is product driven).

This paragraph is great as it is keyword heavy:-

We stock all kinds of baby products and baby fashion, just some of the items we currently have or will soon includes: Baby grows, baby vest's trouser's, dresses, bib's, tracksuits, silverware including money boxes, socks, other baby fashion and much more coming soon. Check out our shop to see what we currently have in stock.

The other thing is you need to think about how you buy - when you go into a shop you can feel the clothes and the quality, but you can't do that on a website so your words and your pictures need to do the selling for you.

I have just had someone write all my descriptions for me and invested heavily in photography - but of course I have had my business for a long time now so am no way suggesting you do, but, maybe you can make your descriptions sound more appealling?

You have a lovely clean looking site, and some nice things on there.

Wishing you all the best of luck.

Thanks for the advice i will in no way take any comments in a personal way. I want this to be my "Job" so i need it to work. I will take all comments on board. Im not happy with my site at the moment and im may possibly invest in getting a web template done. I can update a site but i cant get the layout i want. Thanks girls keep the comments coming.

I would move the personal photos from the front, you need images of your products there.

Good luck, Chell

I also agree that the descriptions could go into a little more detail and the pictures more uniform.

Welcome to Mumzone, keep posting and reading the threads, you will pick up lots of great advice, there are some very knowledgable WAHP on this board!

Hi Kerry and welcome

You have some very large blank gaps there - personally I would close them up a bit and also make sure that you look at your site through more than just the one browser - the main ones being Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera - as your site could look very different in each.

Right how does the home page look now? Im still not happy with it but i agree it does look better. I really wish i could afford to get a proper web designer. But this will have to do for now.
Thanks for all your imput so far.

Kerry welcome to BZ!
I give you 100% for effort and that is what counts at the end of the day. To be able to take on board other peoples comments as well as you have is half the battle so stick with it and you'll do really well!

I have my reasons for doing this and i am so stubbon and determined. There have been times when i felt is it worth it, then i come across a new product and i get all excited again. Just wish i had more money to put into the stock. I have to be so careful what i buy in. Im in two minds again as to what to add next.
Thanks

I would concentrate on your wording on the page now - it definitely looks better than it did but I think you have too much text and you repeat yourself in it as well as having a lot of different fonts.

Hi Kerry and welcome to Mumszone. My main comment on your website would be to remove all the backgrounds from your product photos, particularly those on the home page that have black backgrounds.

I would change these pictures too:
http://www.babyjaysfashion.co.uk/page2.htm They are too personnal IMO.

It looks loads better than it did earlier.

Hi and Welcome to Mumszone :kisshands:

Asking for cc is always tough .. if it's possible can you switch the main blocks of text... Put your 'Hi & Welcome' piece where the top part states 'Supplying baby ..' ?

Then you could get some of your product photos above the 'fold of your site (the part before you need to start scrolling down) and that would do away with the need for the 'Supplying ..' text !! does that make sense ???

Best of luck and again welcome !! :D

Thanks all! I was considering putting the stock right at the top then having my text under this. I need the text for my keywords and page rankings. Its hard as i dont really want to repeat myself. I think i will give up tonight i always seem to get side tracked and start trying to find stock lol. But im determined to get an early night and get to bed before 1am. Then hopefully i can get some work done on it tomorrow. Thanks girls. Keep the ideas coming trust me im taking none of this personally, i need the orders. Did have a bad week last week and i would like to keep it up.

Thanks
Kerry

Hmmm hi kerry - sorry, did i leave you with a load of work? Off to see the improvements right now.

I suggested white backgrounds where - sorry forgot who - trogette, obscure? Sorry brainless tonight - suggested black - whichever, the back grounds will make a huge difference.

Hi there sorry for the late welcome :) I hope it's ok to jump in and give you some more feedback. I've just had a quick look at your site. I think the best thing for any website is to keep it uniform, one (or very maximum of two fonts, 2-3 colours that are consistant throughout the site and server a purpose to enhance your branding. On your shop home page, make the images smaller, all the same size and remove the backgrounds if you can then make the headings bigger. I would personally get rid of the big header text at the top too. I would take out the guest book personally because it's not a professional image, a customer feedback page or something would be better if you want something like that.

Your terms and conditions page is much better, it's neat, consistant and far better done. :) I liked your help and advice bit too but I got confused, I thought that you were offering up advice for each of the things. Because they are underlined it's sort of an unwritten rule that they are clickable links. Would be a great idea for you though!

I think you've got the start of a really good site and don't get down hearted about not being able to afford someone. I built my site myself and I know lots of others who did and it takes a lot of wrong attemps to get something you like. It's never a substitue for the professionals but you can certainly get something that will look good enough with practice.

Anyway nice to meet you :)

Hi there,

Another belated welcome to MZ!! It sounds like you've been working hard on your site.

My first comment would be that it seems your homepage has 2 welcome/intro paragraphs (sorry if I'm contradicting what someone else says!!). Perhaps have them both in the same font type/colour and just as separate paragraphs?

I'll carry on having a look at your site...

But I must say your little boy looks very cute in his tracksuit!!
