Part of me says go for it and spend more money on stock but then a voice tells me not to do it!
DP was having a little moan when I told him how much the business owes me but then turned round and said I should order more! MEN!
We can afford it but I tend to think I would rather save the cash, I know you have to speculate and all that but its frightening. I am in the process of spending cash on PR so I guess I should go for it while I potentially have people looking at the site.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, its so hard to know what to do.

GO FOR IT..................Chell you work very hard and put an enormous amount of time and effort into your business and i predict great things for you! don't underestimate yourself.
Your site is fab, your information spot on and your products brilliant and very reasonably priced.Your always on the ball and one step ahead which is why i think you will suceed!
Although i am not a risk taker i always buy stock...because i believe in what i sell. I dont, wont and will never buy crap just because its cheap. I will only stock good quality products just as you do, if you have the room to store and money to spend GO GIRL...
Toniann x giving license to spend...lol

I have invested everything back into SN, never taken a penny and see stock as being vital, i invested quite a lot of my own money to stock, i accpet that it will be a while before i take it out again - this will also mean that whilst i am taking out my orignal investment i still won't be drawing a wage.
I have had myself in some sticky spots with stock orders and finances this past few months - you heard me say i was bankrupt which i had to view as highly amusing - i adopted this attitude 'cause if i really let it bother me there would be no SN - i know that this business lark is risky.
I have some stock which has sat collecting dust for almost a year - have just paid my second years hosting bill - time flies and so its a year since i bought my first stock, to have some of that still say here is quite disappointing BUT it's doing no harm and so i accept that i have money tied up in stock but i know that at some stage someone will want it.
Look at it this way, if you are serious about chelltune then you will spend this money at some stage - its better to have stock making you money than stock not making your money and yep it might be sat there for a while but it will go at some stage.
I have just increased my range each order, i have loads of stuff on my list to sell but i won't stock it until i am a wee bit more financially secure which i am hoping will happen in my second year.
I'd do a pro's and cons list - expect to have stock sat waiting for the customer.
Maybe sit on it a while and think carefully - i sort of flow with Ketty but then this is your money and not mine.
sorry to be useless.

Thanks for your kind words Ketty, its reasuring to know that it looks ok from a customers point of view.
I need some products that can go along with the Sign Language items but aren't so specialist. I am getting quite alot of hits but not too many sales.

Anne, I know you think I should just spend, spend, spend. I am too careful. It reassuring to know that there is always ebay etc if things don't sell on the site.

but i am with the others... if you've got the money spend it hun and get your stock up!

I have found lots of new products but not enough money to buy them all!
I quite often sit here with brochures for hours on end and never make a decision on what to buy. It's that thought of spending all that money and thinking it might not sell

 At least with ebay you know you'll never be stuck with things though :cheesy: I just don't know what direction to go in at the minute.

Nah, i don't think you should spend spend spend - well i do but not until it feels right to you and on the right stuff.
I already knew what i wanted to stock - have a massive list of stock that i want on my site but i think you have stocked what you had in mind and now you are looking at items that you had not thought about previously. It is important to get it right and so when you feel ready you will want to stick your hand in your pocket and buy it.
until it feels right - anyway what are you talking about you will sell it on ebay - your website is going to work for you honey, it all just takes a while - longer than you have given it.
keep your chin up, it will happen - i said i was with ketty on this.

hi im new about here but just thought i would give my opinion. I have recently set up a site in the vain hope of becoming a work from home mum one day. I have invested in a small amound of stock so far and have given myself a limit. Once i reach an amount in my paypal account i will invest in some more stock. Maybe you should do this?? Set your self a target??

How long can we work for nothing Tanya?
I managed to take a day off yesterday, i went into my garden with my kids and i dug over the veg patch, composted it and then we planted tomatoes and sweetcorn for indoors - it was great to have some time out but then it occured to me that i had to play catch up - so as sopon as the kids were in bed i had to come and sort out endless emails and stuff, none of which make me any money and i know i got a wee bit side tracked and came and chatted here ofr a while but all in all i worked 7 hours on a sunday for not a penny.
I got to sell more stuff, either that or cut down on what i buy, i don't get a decent deal or delivery on some items unless i buy masses - one day i am sure it will happen.
£50 a week would be great, i even pay for products when i take them out of stock ;-(

I managed to avoid going out to work in a proper job for the last 16 years - it's called planning your children well:hysterica
I couldn't do this and a full time day job too or even a part time day job, i'd be a head case - i think i made a vital mistake when i decided to pack my own ingredients ;-(
I do spend a lot of day chatting though - and learning loads this first year - i can't believe how much i have learned, i am still in the what's it called ketty & Chris? - that simple club i am a member of but i am no where as uneducated and thick on all things business, technical and whatever as i was a year ago.
Hmm i do work admin for dh though which should be an almost full time job - hmm i work an awful lot but all at home - i don't earn a penny for any of my work ;-( Dh is so tight.
I am off to ask for a wage!!

It takes a good two to three years before a business starts to make "proper" money, I did just what you do sadierhianne the first year or so, I spent a lot of time on the forums, talking to people and making sure my business name was on the bottom of my posts. It is really hard going at the beginning.
Chelle, go for it and buy the stock, speculate to accumulate and all that!

I've placed one tiny order, well I have if they allow me to collect it rather than pay shipping.
Thats the problem I have, I don't want several things from one supplier so to order the minimum order would mean I would have so many of the same item.
