Are there any members on here who are interested in sculpey and fimo
I have been modelling with it on and off for many years, just wondered if any one fancied sharing tips on modelling?

oooh, I shall have a look at the site in a mo,
Fimo and sculpey are like a big kids plasticine, you bake it when you have made something and it is like an ornament, lasting for many years.
I will post some pics on here tomorrow if you want to see some of my work

Hi,

I'm the beadmerrily lady and i have most of the range :)
I've also just started an ideas site; so far the best of what i've done is here
http://www.fimo-ideas.co.uk/blog/

The create your own kits are really good for getting started as each kit has quite a few ideas on the back; ireally like them.

I did put an offer code into the WAH offers section for MZers at the beginning of the week too;i don't know if i'm allowed to say that but Toni can always remove it if not!

I get our fimo from beadmerrily.co.uk - tis fantastic stuff, we have balls of it all over the house, so you can play with fimo if you are waiting for the bathroom, you can play with fimo in any room in the house - the same with hama beads, they now seem to have exploded to everywhere ;-)

Fimo is so great thsat it doesn't dry up, it doesn't squelch into the carpet, it does pass colour a but but bicarb got rid of it ok.

Oh and i am just about to - well it might be next week - add a decorative dough book to my store and that has loads of ideas which could all be done using fimo.

I have to announce that i actually managed to make a proper hama bead mat yesterday, its the first time they have actually melted together - goes to show that cheper alternatives to hama are just a waste of time.

Might do some fimo and then some soap making this afternoon.

Thank you for the link to your website, lovely models, isn't it great to get stuck in!!!!
I may be placing an order in the next few weeks, I'm looking for the tls (translucent liquid sculpey) and tibetan mohair for the hair, seems hard to get hold of.

i've got the liquid fimo stuff; it came in this week, though i haven't put it on the site yet but i've not heard of the hair. I make mine from fimo. Would be happy to help though, so feel free to pm me and i'llsee what i can do.

Anne-fab sales pitch, thanks!

Hiya Sand - I use Fimo for some of my jewellery. I also buy the Polymer Cafe quarterly, that has loads of tips & advice and projexts. Have you got the Emma Ralph Polymer Clay in a Day and her other one..........eeek forgotten the name but both of them are great books.

Do you use a pasta machine for your clay? have to say this is the best thing I bought, it has been great to mix the clay etc.

I have bought Fimo from Merry's site too - much cheaper than the shops and it gets delivered straight to your door!

No, I do not own a pasta machine, if sales do alright with my models I will think about investing in one.
i did notice with Merry's site that it is cheaper than other craft stores and websites.
I am so glad I found this site, it's going to save me money and you are all very nice too!!!!
As for books, I do not own any. I really should look into it, the ones I have seen are more to do with cartoon like creations, I do enjoy trying to create detail with my characters normally.
It's nice to hear from people who enjot the same kind of hobby

I've been looking for the Maureen Carlson book, gnomes fairies and trolls, but it is very hard to get hold of.
I shall continue in my search as it looks such a great book.
Funnily enough, alot of people are more interested in my fairy card toppers than my models, so that is my main hobby at the moment, but greatly rewarding.

Gosh I am so late in responding Vonnie.
A little update, first and foremost, Bead Merrily is an amazing website, and Merry is just as great.
I sold my fairy girl (only got £5.19 for her) but I have had a lot of success with card toppers, I have had a few orders for fairy card toppers in particular, some to go on someones website, some to a craft stall holder, and others have gone to card makers.
If you go to photobucket you'll find some of my work under the name pinkrosie75
I am trying my hand at ice cream cones, princesses, ballerinas etc.
Hopefully the card toppers will fund my hobby for more intricate sculpting cos I need the practise.
Also for my parents anniversary cake, I actually succeeded in recreating their faces as a cake topper with models bodies.
i will see if I can go put that one on to my photobucket

I've had a play with Sculpey but not very good at it - need more practice.

I'd love to swap ideas and tips though - although I think it will be a bit one way to start with!
