No never unless the customer requests it. I keep a proof of posting for everything and as long as the value isn't over £32 it's covered by normal postage if it goes missing.

I send most of my items normal post rarely do I send recorded, unless it has been specifically asked for from the customer.
If you keep the proof of posting you are covered up to £32 against loss or damage, which is adequate for me as most of my products are low value.
I have had to claim a couple of times and have not had any problems.

I do if it's over £20, or I think the person is dodgy LOL
Most things go carrier anyway that gets a signature

 not unless it's asked for, and it only covers items up to £32. If it's more expensive than that I would use another service

No and despite sending hundreds of parcels between October and end of December not a single one went missing. However, if the value is more than £32 I tend to send standard parcels/special delivery/courier so that I can purchase extra insurance.

I always take my parcels down the post office, so that I can get proof of postage. You'll need the proof of postage if you ever need to make a claim, you wouldn't be able to get that if you put your parcels directly in the postbox.:D

you can print your own postage labels at home using Smartstamp from Royal Mail but if you do that you still need to go to the Post Office to get proof of posting
I usually beat the grannies to the post office as I go in at lunch time as I work right next door :cheesy:

I used to use smart stamp but then decided I didn't want to pay £50 for the privililedge. A lot of my items are a similar size so I sometimes buy stamps and put them on myself. I usually just send Katherine though when she gets in from school :cheesy:

I don't send anything recorded. If it's big enough that i wouldn't want to pay for it out of my own pocket to replace, i send it by whatever cheap courier deal i can find :)

I print my postage online but not with Smart stamp where you pay a yearly fee, I use the other one. The link is on the bottom right hand side of www.royalmail.com

That would have saved me a lot of bother today, I had people huffing and sighing in the queue behind me as I had a grey sack full of mail to go
How do you go about getting a certificate of posting though incase it gets lost?

I always send recorded/special/courier so that I always get a signature, unless for some reason (ie the local PO is rubbish) it works better if a signature isn't needed. I always send overseas by International Signed For even to Airsure countries because Airsure doesn't require a signature. Call me paranoid but it does mean I've never made a claim.
we send our items out either recorded/special delivery or by courior - that way we have proof of delivery.. but most of the things we sell aren't under £30.

I always send recorded it just gives me peace of mind, however I know from going through the slips loads are never actually put on the royal mail website so I will be claiming those back - I know the parcels have arrived but seeing as they haven't done what I paid for thats a nice bit back in my pocket!
