What are your views on this ?

In my opinion it should ONLY be prescribed by a doctor, where regular health checks are given when you go back to the doctors/clinic to get a repeat prescription. When I took bcp the major side effects I had were high blood pressure, severe migraines, and tingling sensation on my hands and arms (a sign of a potential thrombosis). Right there and then the Dr refused to prescribe it to me after taking it for 8 years, suffering painful periods was in my opinion far better than possibly dying. Would a pharmacist have picked this up and refuse to prescribe it to me ?

Definately only prescribed by a doctor. The pill varies from type to type and it can take a while to find out which one suited you best.
It's much better to have to go to the doctor every few months for a health check than to be self prescribing and doing yourself unknown damage.

definatly only a doctor
i was on the pill 10 years had thrush the whole time (i had to self diagnose myself and realise it must have been the pill) so took myself off it and thrush went
when i went to ask to be put on a different one it turns out that because of history in blood clots in my mums family i cant have the pill

so i do really think you should have to go to the doctors :happy72:

I think only a doctor should prescribe it

i had no problems when i was on it for 2 years but since having these really bad miagraines the doctor has told me i can never go on the pill again but i wonder if a pharmasist would have the time to go through a womans health history

i think it should only be prescribed by a doctor one of the reasons is because the potential risk of ppls lives with the side affects and also i dont like anyone reading my medical records i'd rather keep that between the doctor and myself

Defintley only a doctor That is like havin someone able to go and get it for u, If u are under age U can not buy tabacco and alchahol and it should be the same for the pill Unless ur doctor thinks it is a good idea thats my opinion Anywayjawdown1234
