Hi all,

Just wondered what your favourite traditional toys were/are and would you buy them for your children?

I have lots to add to my site already but i'm waiting until after the Spring Fair to see if i can find any unusual ones.

I will start the list off with

cup and ball
whip and top
diablo
dominoes

thanks

I really love all the wooden kitchen/home stuff that's about - pity Amy is growing out of that sort of thing! Also the wooden dolls house she had for Christmas is beautiful - a million times nicer than Little People/Happy Land or anythign else plastic.

Am i showing my age?

A Simon is an electronic game, that plays a tune and light sequence, which you have to remember and copy

The sketch-a-graph is a gadget that enables you to copy a drawing either larger or smaller, from the 1970s

I used to love spiragraph, great fun!

At primary school age, I always loved to play Jacks (i think that's what its called? the crosses and the bouncy ball?)
Also remember playing french skipping all the time. But we made them our selves from a long piece of elastic.

Toniann - the only stall at the Spring Fair you will need is Tobar! They are the company that supplies and owns Hawkins Bazaar! Soooo many traditional wooden and non-wooden toys! Plus nearly everyone on forums seems to buy all their stocking fillers and little presents from them so you'll be ££££ in! :happy72:

Their trade prices are fab too.

Thanks Claire,
Spooky TJ mentioned these to me!
I have their catalogue from last year and your right they do do a big range at decent trade prices but we have a BIG Hawkins Bazaar in Notts (didnt know they are owned by Tobar though!durr) so i am a bit iffy about selling their things as previously i have sold 90 % face to face at craft stalls/markets etc in and around the East Mids. But i suppose now i am hoping to sell more though my website, i ought to re-look at them.

Thanks again
