i put a holiday form for dd to have the time off school as my sister is having dd while im in hospital and she lives to far from the school and dosnt drive to get her there every day well the head master has phoned and said it has been refused as dd has had to many days of school im so annoyed as she only has time off when she has hostital appointment or when she's ill but there not taking that in to concideration:angry-smi123
i never taken dd out off school when we go on holiday its in school holiday time the head master said he has tryed to get dd a taxi back to my sisters as i did say my sisters dp could take her but wouldnt beable to collect her but maybe it's me being over protective but i would'nt let dd get a taxi anyway :angry-smi123
then he said about the after school club would he like me for him to talk to her about it i said no i will talk to her but i know she wont agree she hates being at school
my dad has offered to pick her up and take her to my sister but i dont think its fare on him to put him through that coz i know he'll push himself if he felt tired he would'nt admit it
im so angry with the school it's the first time i've ask for they help i wish i never bothered now
i've left it that i will have a chat to dd about the after school club but really dont want to make it anymore stressful for her then need be she very shy and sensertive and very easlie upset
sorry to go on but just wondered what you would do as i dont no if it's me being over proctetive of dd

you can just take her out of school anyway, but to cover your own backside so to speak i would contact yourlocal education welfare and explain the situation to them ...

i wouldnt let them tell me what to do. i'm very forcefull when it comes to my boys and if it means time off school then so be it, they can have school work given to them while they are off and NO WAY would my boys get a taxi without a known adult with them. shes your daughter and you do whats best for you and her

I'd just take her out anyway. We discovered 'after' we got back from centre parcs that the school didn't authorise Kate's holiday and it had to be marked down as an unauthorised absence! That's ok we can live with that but if she needs time off again she'll have to be sick as that's ok ;)
Matt's school were fine!

At the end of the day from the schools point of view they are concerned about your daughters absences from school and have to follow guidelines. If they feel she has had too many days off whether it be through sickness, hospital or anything else its their duty to say so otherwise it could come back on them at some point.

How long are you in hospital for? Would it not be possible for someone to stay at your house while you are away to help with your daughter instead of them having to travel all the time?

At the end of the day if its just not possible in any way then you could always go higher and ask for help/guidance on what you can do

thankyou for all ur advise im in hospital from the tuesday til saturday at the latest im hoping to be out by thursday the nurse i spook to said as long as i can drink and swollow tables to manage the pain i can go home so i think it all depend when on wednesday i have it done
i went in to the school yesterday as dd point blank said no to the afterschool club witch i was'nt surprised but at least i can say i tryed
i could'nt speak to the head master ,so much for waiting to hear from me:angry-smi123.
well had a long chat with my sister and like suzi said im going to phone the educational welfare as i dont think my dd feelings as been taken in to concideration im in hospital and it the first time for her so she'll worrie about that
i was so shocked to find out the depoty head didnt no dd has a cleft palet or pirro robin syndrome (her teachers have all known) and waiting to hear if she has any other syndrome surely it should be on file that is why she got into the school in the first place as its out off our catchment area but it's very good with children with disabilatys well so i thought im going to arrange an oppointment with the head master to voice my concerns as i dont feel she get's anothe help
well im gonna have to wait till monday now will let you thanks again:kissykiss
