I know these things are supposed to be "live" but how can they broadcast this and yet cut off the I'm a celeb GMOH stuff all the time with "birdsong" etc for 'legal reasons' usually ...
I haven't seen any of the celeb BB and have no intention of watching this Castaway one either, I guess people are entitled to free speech, but there are limits ...

I reckon this is just another story of some sad person who wants to be famous! And look what the media are doing, making her famous.

i was actually watching this on Sunday and thought "OMG she cant say that!!!" but then i guess shes just doing for effect....and i guess she thinks her thoughts are justified...but they are very offensive. Being frank.,..if you dont like it then dont watch it...but the fact that these things are being said is quite worrying....reality TV is just that, reality and in reality people do have these thoughts and feelings. not justifying it at all.

The thing is, is not everyone entitled to their own views however much it goes against what others think, if not then you are starting to control peoples thoughts which I for one find very scary, I saw it and yes she had some way over the top views and some that would be offensive to others but they are her views and she should be entitled to state them otherwise what happened to free speech, she obviously comes from a very sheltered and privelidge background and has not mixed with a range of people and some of her views were very immature and will change as she mixes with others but she is still entitled to her own views.

I totally agree. I'm all for free speech. I actually understand where she's coming from in a small part of what she says. I also did think what she said came from immaturity and what she thinks and feels now will change a lot over the years as she gets a better understanding of life and people. I think it's a downward spiral if we start trying to stop people saying what they think and feel.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but if a person has such vile, hateful views they should most definitely keep them to themselves.

Precisely! What one person may think is vile another person may not - who's right and who's wrong? Let them say what they want and just choose what to ignore!

If they have to keep it to themselves then they do not have freedom of speech!

Good point, but I think most people realise that racist views and comments are offensive and unacceptable nowadays, and people who don't are either incredibly ignorant (in which case can be educated hopefully) or geniunely out to hurt people! Imo anyway.

This girl had a private education at boarding school! I think it is a class ignorance thing - remember Prince Phillip with his Chinese comment the slanty eyes.
Thing is people like this ignorant girl & Prince Phillip will not get as hard as time as the Jade Goody's of this world because of their status.
However, part of me does agree with Smirnoff we live in a PC world these days where we have to think about what we say or do for fear of offending pratically anyone!

i dont want to sound really mean after this post but that girl agree with you lot she was really nasty putting ppl down because of their race, weight and sexual prefrance and i can't really coment on jade cos i never saw what she said to or about shilpa but i dont think britain is over populated wether it be for one reason or another doesn't matter there are too many ppl in this country but it's up to the govermant to sort it out we can't do anything because the polititians dont really listen to us thats how i see it unless i'm a bit blind cos i dont follow polotics much i dont even think thats spelt right but anyway britain is overcrowded one way or another

Jade wasn't being racist - after all her own father is mixed race. She felt threatened because she felt that Shilpa looked down on her - it's a class and culture thing with Jade. She's very aware of where she came from and feels very threatened by anyone whom she considers to be 'above' or 'better' than her - even if the other person doesn't feel that way about themselves. If that makes sense.

i never thought i would say this but i actually feel for jade at the minute did anyone see her on this morning ? i really felt for her she broke down in tears
she knows she has done wrong and she is getting help for her anger
she has had her windows smashed and is still under police protection and all she kept saying is she dont care that her career is going down the pan she just dont want people taking it out on her kids
and when all is said and done she is a mum first
the people that have targeted her house IMO are no better 2 wrongs dont make a right at least jade has stood up and admitted she was wrong and is trying to put things right
i just hope she has learnt from this and i have a feeling she has
we all make mistakes and say and do things we shouldnt xxxx
Sarah
24-01-2007, 04:48 PM
The people who have smashed her windows are a***holes, what gives them the right to take it upon themselves to teach her a lesson? It's like all the idiots that stand outside the courts shouting at offenders as prisoners are taken in - what's that all about??

To be honest though about Jade, I doubt she'll ever change, because when she was in BB the first time she was a loud mouthed bully (was it Sophie?) and I'd have thought that four years and two kids on, she's have grown up a bit! I did see her on This Morning and she did seem genuinely sorry, but who knows really, maybe she's more sorry about the money she will be losing out on, but then I am a cynic!

I don't think that because someone has different non popular pc views that they are ignorant or out to hurt anyone their opinion is just that, (everyone has the right to think how they want even if we do not like it) you can not tell people how to think, it is, and never will be possible. Yes what some people say will offend but it is their right to think and or say it. If we go down the route of educating people to think how we think they should then we may as well of let Hitler invade.
As long as there are laws in place to prevent the actual harming of another person or incitement to do so then everyone must have freedom of speech.
