Just had this email through my store:
Hi im being a bit cheeky really but im looking into starting an online business
selling similar items as ure self. Do u make much money and do u keep a bit stock?
Also where did u find ure suppliers?
Many thanks in advance for any help
Kerry
Did any of you getting handed all that information on a plate ? I never did. I must have spent 100's of hours trawling through the internet for my suppliers, going from links to links etc. Not sure whether to even bother replying or just ignore it.

Personally I'd be tempted to ignore it. I get the odd question from people wanting to start up bookkeeping but that's not too bad - I don't mind sharing some information.
I know a couple of people who are constantly being asked to hand their supplliers etc over on a silver platter - there are some very cheeky people out there!

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind helping people out, especially with more general questions.
I just think if I have spent 3 months of my life sourcing suppliers why does someone think I am just going to email them to the list ? :ac39:

I guess some people think they should just get handed everything on a silver platter. There's a difference between giving advice on where to find things etc, and just handing someone your suppliers. It's so hard to get your own feet on the ground and you shouldn't feel that you need to get someone else's feet on the ground.

Some people are cheeky, we had our main competitor ask us to put our price up as it was too low and they was losing buisness lol.

I'd ignore it or at the most .. reply wishing her best wishes but that you are unable to help out with her specific inquiries, although she could try looking through her local business directory and perhaps writing politely to companies asking for quotes!
Finding quality working relationships, is one of the biggest learning curves to starting up in business ... they teach you respect for what you then discover your 'competitiors' went through to get their information and patience in bringing all the key elements together to form an individual business ...
She is very naive (as we all are initially :D ) to think this very important information can be passed out indiscriminately.

I'd ignore it. If you answer these questions for her, chances are she'll be back with more. :)

What a cheek! Why not go back to her and say no problem I can supply you everything you need. Or, I make no money, hold lots of stock and my suppliers come from out of space! I spend hours traweling the web for new goods. I actually find it very satisfying when I find a new supplier and product, it really gives me a buzz.

Ignore it or spin her a line that you make an absolute fortune and it pays so well that your hubby has now just given up work in order to help you in between 5star holidays

I think the lady that sent them was Bluemema. She has posted in the WAH business thread and has said it was her asking for that information - makes it a bit awkward !!

sounds like someone who is quite young.
I know my reaction would be to think that it is rude, but after the few weeks I've just had, I would bear in mind that words can ofen put a huge dent in someones confidence.
You could not reply and see how persistant she is, if she emails you again, a polite reply would be the professional thing to do
Just my opinion

It's all ok now hun, I did think the email was from you for a start but then realised it was a different name. I'm a blonde and often get things muddled - we're a lovely lot really - just very easily confused - isn't that right girls :hysterica

I'd just ignore it to be honest.
If she emails you again, then I'd reply politely and tell her that you cannot divulge confidential information like that to potential competitors.
