I see that this week is official Child Trust Fund week (http://www.inthenews.co.uk/news/news/finance/new-child-trust-fund-drive-launched-$1041407.htm), which raises a few interesting questions; what do people here think of the Child Trust Fund, have you invested your children's vouchers, with whom and why? I personally think it's a great initiative, and we invested our ds's voucher as soon as we could, so as not to lose out on any of the interest...

I thinks it's great too - a good start for my LO. As soon as i got hers I invested it - I work for a building society so just put it in there and opened a savings account for her at the same time!
I have met many parents though who come in a couple of days before the expiry date on the voucher to invest it all in a panic as they haven't done anything with it!

We've gone with the the children's mutual (http://www.thechildrensmutual.co.uk), since their funds do perform very well... we went with a non-stakeholder equity fund, which according to this (http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/saving-and-banking/article.html?in_article_id=416443&in_page_id=7&ct=5) was a wise choice :D
I can understand parents leaving it to the last minute though... there is quite a daunting range of options out the. I'd have probably ended up doing the same if dh hadn't been hot on the case :)

TBH, I haven't really thought much about it. :blusingan
I just put my LOs CTF money into an account, & left it there. They have savings accounts that we add to ourselves, I don't hardly ever think about their trust funds, that's seperate money.
Great idea by the government to get people into of putting money away for their kids futures.

i agree that it is a good idea - but we dont add to ours...the voucher is there and will stay there until the time comes when its needed. the thing is, when the kiddies get older they are all going to know that there is this money...we keep seperate savings accounts which they will know nothing about....so they can have they trust fund voucher and we still have a lump sum kept by for when its needed....

Only our youngest qualified for it. So we opened his account with the post office, we don't add to it as we save for them seperately...again so they know nothing about it!!
