when my site first went live my original webdesigner submitted it to Google...
I don't think it's ever been submitted to anything else?
Once Google found it all the others followed.

I tried submitting it to Alta Vista but their free submission thing was down at the time..
I honestly can't remember but I'm sure someone told me that Google is the biggie - if they find you then the rest will shortly after :D

I'm crap at this kind of thing. Don't understand it all. Go on Toni, help us out here give us some words of wisdom - Sadie submits it when it is done and then I just sit and watch helplessly! I'd love to know how to help it move up the rankings

Well I know that you can submit at least once a week and although Google is a good one Alexa is another. Will post up some more sites including link popularity checkers. Someone I know is actually writing an online book for just this very purpose at the moment. It explains how to get a good ranking amongst other things.

Ive just added google ads to the site as well as I have been told that it helps Google to index you. :D

:Hello2: I thought once you were indexed, that was it? Then you have to work on improving your ranking etc.. I'm fairly new to SEO but have ploughed through many a book on it of late. I am a compulsive googler and keen stats on all of mine :D Sad but true :D
