Just finally manged to do some photography - brand new duracels allowed me to take 50 photos before they die so i brings the snaps and loads em - every photo rubbish to choose a polite word.

Now, i know that this camera takes really good close ups 'cause i practiced on the xmas tree baubles with flash.

I used the lightcube again - i was told that i MUST have one of these and told how much better my snaps would be - well they weren't so i read up on how to use the cube properly and it seemes that i was aiming the light into the wrong place so i does it right today - it appears that i will need a soopertrooper to get the light that i need 'cause every snap is a dull yellow colour.

I know others have got a lightcube on here - are your pics loads better? Can someone explain exactly where i need to locate the cube, where the lights need to be - does it need to be daylight, what settings do i need on the camera.

Have had to eat a whole kilo of italian cake to de stress myself this afternoon - so now i feel ill as well as completely fed up.

Any help much appreciated.

Maybe i should just let the cat have the light cube to sleep in.

Thanks

I'm just buying a light cube thingy, so I would appreciate any comments as well.

The yellow colour might be the bulbs you're using? are they just normal bulbs? or day bulbs/craft bulbs that give a more natural light? Wilkinsons do craft bulbs for £1.50 each so might be worth buying some to try?

I've never used a light cube but I do always use natural daylight from patio doors to take my photo's for my site. I never have the sun shining on what I am photographing as it causes too much shadow.

Hope it works out for you.

It might be the hallogen light that's causing the yellow although not sure how inside the cube.

I will go look at the website Merry, i have had mine ages now but really struggle with it - i can't even fold it down - not sure how to wash it either since the cat slept in it.

I have just taken photos on plain white paper on my desk and got a much better result - it just means that i have to get my head around gimp - which is easier said than done.

I feel like i am getting myself in a right state over this photography - i can take such a fab photo usually but when it comes to the site photos i just can't do it.

thanks

I use a lightcube on my products - all those with white background on my site are done with the lightcube.

Some pics are better than others "Doh" but I never ever use artificial light, and couldn't afford to buy a light specially for it.

I stand my cube on the kitchen worksurface next to the window, so the daylight is shining in from behind, or from the front of it - depending on the time of day, position of sun etc lol.

I use a 35mm canon eos and set it at still life mode. With the photos on cd, I then edit them with mgi photosuite and/or picasa.

It's a case of practice makes perfect - but without the light cube my pictures would be tons, tons worse then they are.
