What is the going rate for web updates - simple things, adding pages, changing content, etc? I've had enough of this all inclusive lark and I'm never doing an annual flat fee ever again. I need to bill by the hour for certain clients - what do you (or any of you with sites/stores) think is fair for an hourly rate? :xmascheers: :smilie_weihnfenster

Hello,

Depends what exactly the updates are - we've got prices listed on our website for support packages. Don't know if it's the going rate - I suspect not - but it's something at least.

HTH!

Heya

It depends on who it is tbh!

I charge wahm differently to corporate, and also depends upon the type of website, extent of the changes etc.

Not much help really is it?

I also charge a minimum fee for web updates as else I end up with one word at a time, so charging a £5 minimum means that unless its urgent people send over decent amount of updates at a time.

Hi Daffs!
You could ask your clients for a list of the exact updates they need (this will make them think about what they need doing in advance) and then quote on that. For example, if I sent you a list of an extra section I needed, some design tweaks etc than you could work out how long it would take you and send me an estimate in an email. Eg This work will cost you £45 etc etc
Good idea!

At the moment I get my forums modified and upgraded for about $29 from a lad who claims to be in Austrailia however he does have a middle eastern name.

Also my shop was designed by an English bloke but is now modified and upgraded on request at about $30 a time by a lad who claims to be in the U.S

I've never spoke verbally to any of these people but they have been so helpful especially for the cheap cost.

It might be a good idea to have a price structure for example, per mod, per upgrade etc...

Also give quotes for work to be done
