:cheesy:
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i need garden advice - again
dh has been in the garden trying to sort out the mess that the mole has created...but its just a complete nightmare.
hes raked up the leaves and tried to tidy it up. but its just like a mud bath and theres hardly any grass left now.
im just waiting for the batteries to charge for the camera and i'll take some pics..its not a pretty sight.
is there such a thing as a soil test or something we can do?
the mole is still on loose but dh managed to get hold of some dodgy turf which has gone a bit yellow but hes laid that to try and patch it up...
but its just a nightmare.
we need help (advice)
thanks

I have seen somethjing in one of the leaflet/magazines about getting rid of moles harmlessly. I think the mags. have been recycled but if I find one or when another is received I will either let you know or post a thread. Any good. Not immediate help but could be forthcoming.

And you just happened to have one of them lying around did you? OK, remind me to listen if you ever tell me to get off your lawn.

sorry whassat only just seen this post

dh sort of said as he was in a hurry to go back out lol

you can get an anti vibration deterrent thing to get rid of moles

if you've had leather jackets then you will need to returf your garden but not before you've got rid of the mole!

it's ok to do it this time of year as long as there isn't any snow or frost

HTH

I'll get some more info out of him later

no, thats great. great news about the turf!..once we put the shapr sand down, can we put the turf stright on to it...or does it need to settle or anything?? i know we mix it in with the existing soil etc, am i talking a load of nonsense lol..
the leather jackets...are they likely to come back again next year and cause the same problems
oh, and if we returf . say tommorrow for instance...and it frosts a day or a week later, will that cause problems
thanks TJ, and thank your dh too

hi this is what the RHS says about mole traps it works for my dad.
Mole traps are inexpensive and available from garden centres and hardware stores. They are humane but need careful placement in a tunnel, but not directly under a molehill. The secret is to open up a tunnel with the minimum of disturbance and align the trap with the direction and depth of the tunnel. No bait is required. Handle the trap with gloves as moles are sensitive to human scent. Once the trap is set, gently cover it with an upturned bucket to exclude light and draughts. Check the trap daily. With a bit of luck, the mole will be caught but sometimes the mole pushes soil into the trap. If this happens, clear the tunnel of soil and reset the trap. If this continues to occur, reset the trap in a different part of the tunnel system. Vacant tunnel systems may be taken over by another mole from nearby areas so further trapping may be needed to keep a garden mole free.
Hope it helps
