well as you know i have a 15 year old pitbull terrier (the most placid dog i have ever known)
well we took her to the vet a couple of weeks back because of a huge and i mean HUGE lump on her breast it is a tumor and the vet said to bring her back in a month for her to be operated on (she was due to go back 14th this month)
well every morning we have come down and our entire living dining room and kitchen is smothered with pee not a dry bit on the floor and it has blood in it its that bad the whole floor has to come up
i think from what i have seen is that the cancer has spread to her bladder
we are taking her to the vets weds and i know it really sounds bad but i hope she dosnt come home as its not fair on her or us im having to get up at 6 am to mop the floors before i even get the kids sorted and with my back it is an absolute nightmare
so what do you reckon do you think they will put her to sleep ?

aw char how sad cryingsmil poor old girl, ive been in this situation myself and even though it is so hard i think the kindest thing you can do is let her go quickly and quietly and suffer no more pain, poor dog, makes me so sad, they are such a part of the family, hugs to you hun x

Aww I know how sad it is - when my dogs which we had had since childhood had to be put down I cried my eyes out. However, I do think it sounds as though something is very wrong and I would imagine that the vets will say that in view of her age the fair thing to do would be to put her to sleep.

thanks hun im okish about it (so i say now lol) but she is my brothers dog and its down to him but i think he knows the situation she is like the woman off little britain who just stands and pees and dont realise it and it literally floods my house it cant be right and she certainly cant be comfortable with it

i know it sounds awful but that is what im hoping as she has had a good life we have had her in the family since i was 9 or 10 and shes 98 in dog years which is a fantastic age for a dog

thanks guys i love her to death but neither of us can go on like this
when we first got her you could count every rib on her and every bone along her spine now she looks fantastic but is a very sick doggy we have got her health (as much as we can) back on top and she is how she used to be when she was younger but if its the best thing (which i think it is) then thats the way it is im more worried about my brother tbh as he has had a lot to go through with the inncident with the hammer ect this is his number one girl i only ended up with her because he wasnt allowed her in his new flat but he comes every day to see her
he even mopped her brow with a sponge when she was in labour the soft sod lol

Awww! Things like this always make me want to cry!
The poor old girl. What has your brother said about it all? Is he in agreement that she should be put to sleep? Have you talked about it with him?
Clearly if it is in the dogs best interests then you gotta do what you gotta do.
I can't imagine how I'd cope if anything happened to my dog. I know it sounds over the top but to me, he's like one of my kids. It really would be like losing a child if I lost him. I know it's going to happen someday...but hopefully not for a very long time (he's almost 6yrs old)....I hate thinking about it, gets me all upset.
Hope the trip to the vets goes as well as can be expected tomorrow.
(((hugs)))

(((hugs)))thanks hun well i have spoken to him sort of he said the last time she went that he would be gutted but dont want her in pain and that she has had a good life so if it has to be then it has to be before he thought she would be given a magic pill but i think he now knows thats not the case

Sorry, only just seen your past threads about her...I'm new on here so still trying to find my way around.
Has the peeing just started since the last time your vet saw her or was it happening back then as well? Has it got any worse? Is the blood in her urine a new thing?
The vet seemed hopeful from what you said last time so maybe they'll be able to operate and see how she goes. If things have been going downhill then obviously they will have to review the situation.
Such a hard decision to make....I don't envy you at all. I know it may seem selfish but if she was my dog and the vet thought she could cope with the treatment (provided things weren't getting worse) I think I'd hold on. I can totally understand that you don't want her to suffer though, and obviously if she will be in any pain after the treatment you'd have to decide what would be best for her.
I just couldn't imagine having Bronson put to sleep. I think I'd have to send someone else with him cos I just couldn't cope with it. Sorry...I'm probably making things worse. I'll shut up now....just get very emotional. Good luck with tomorrow anyways.

the vet thinks she can operate as her lungs are good but she has said obviously there is a chance that she wont make it through the op

Oh hunni - |I know how hard it is - Smokie was really ill this year, they had to operate, didn't honestly think she'd pull through, but she did. Its so hard because you don't want to lose them but dont want them to be in pain either. Maybe they can do something x

Hi,
Sorry hun ive only just caught up with this. Im so sorry to hear she is having problems.
To me it sounds as if it could be a water infection/cystitis alot like we get.Does she have a funny smell about her as years ago my old boy Sandy had a kidney problem that made him incontinent but he smelt funny as well with it.
I really hope you manage to get it all sorted out soon it must be so hard for you & your brother ""cutey""b
