I've suddenly realised how houseproud I've become since moving here, I really love this house, & I love showing it off, & most shocking of all, I'm actually kind of enjoying cleaning it! :smiley-fa
Just wondering if there was anyone else mad about their houses too?

I love my house too, and I love it even more when it's tidy lol which is usually any time after 10am and before 3.30pm weekdays lol. It's where I want to be forever, unless of course I win the lottery.

I'm not sure if I'm house proud. I love my house to be clean and tidy would be mortified if someone called round and it was a mess, having said that I'm untidy and useless at housework. So I'm proud in one way but not enough to keep it spotlessly tidy
Er... no. Our hoover only works for dh...

:D Now, mine USED to be like that, but since we moved, I've come over all Hyacinth Bucket! My hubby's amazed at the transformation, & my mum often jokes about my feather duster :blusingan

Actually I'm much better in my new kitchen than in the old one. The extension is lovely and I love seeing my kitchen nice and clean and tidy :D

I'm starting to love this house, we have been doing it up since we got married last year so there is always dust and a mess everywhere! but we have nearly finished the kitchen, I've only ever lived in a council house before so never had a nice kitchen and it feels quite posh. We have only the dining room, hallways stairs and landing to finish now so its all coming together but house proud me:hysterica not in a million years. I like a house to look lived in, its what makes it a home.

I like to think i am, downstairs is always clean on a daily basis, moved in in may and there was an old lady living here and i think she last decorated in the 60's, we havent decorated yet, about to do oscars room in the next couple of weeks, cant put him in there like it is cause i think it will scare him!! then josh's room as he has flowers at the mo. not going to do alot more as the council is going to knock the house down and rebuild it within the next couple of years.

I would love to have a clean house, but there never seems to be enough time...And whatever I try and tidy, the kids ruin it within about 5 minutes flat anyway.
Our kitchen is hopeless, we have doors hanging off of cupboards, drawers missing etc...but the council are redoing it soon and putting in extra and well needed storage!!
Have always had tidy houses, up until this one. It has always been a tip, less time, less storage and 2 kids doesn't help!

I love my house it's so unusual - it used to be a shop. Trouble is I'm very disorganised with my housework. I either go all out and have a whole day spring cleaning or I get by doing little bits each day. I think I need to draw myself up a rota.

I love my house because its home.
I would LOVE a tidy house, but with a 3 year old, 2 year old and 10 month old (and husband!) its not gonna happen!
So long as our friends feel welcome and we all feel loved here, I'm happy
Oh heck, I'm turning into a hippy!!

This is going to sound really sad now, but I DID do myself a rota! That's how I got myself into the habit of doing housework, & making sure nothing gets missed. It works for me, but I've never told anyone............. up until now! :blusingan

I think it's a really good idea. I'd love to know how you set it out, what you gave yourself to do each day. PM me if you're too embarrassed lol.

Oh, it was nothing proffessional lol, the first time I cleaned, I timed myself doing each individual job (eg. 55 mins to dust & polish, 20 mins to clean the bathroom etc) & wrote all the times down. Then I worked out how many times a week I'd need to do each job, how long it would take me, & then sorted the jobs out into 'blocks' of 2 hours at a time, on certain days, I'd do certain things, & I stuck to it. It's whatever works for you really, I just find it easier to keep on top of things if I have a plan, & that applies to my life in general really. :D
God, doesn't that all sound so anal!

No not at all. We can't all be Kim and Aggie!:cheesy: I for one think I would find a rota very helpful.

I'm very houseproud, no kids so it does make it asier for me, but when you have 2 guinea pigs who throw poo and sawdust out of the cage it can make me a little aggitated and I have to clean up instantly

I am very houseproud. Its easier for me because theres just dd (2 yrs) and me, so its easy to keep on top of things.
My dd has caught the houseproud bug too, she loves keeping her room tidy and always puts her toys away after playing with them!
I do like to do my house top to bottom everyday, but my kids are allowed to live in it and play.... It just makes me feel better knowing its clean....

I would say im pretty house proud. I hoover everyday and clean the kitchen and dinning room floor everyday. The down stairs toilet is forever being cleaned because thats the one the boys use most. I cant stand to leaving washing and drying up on the side so that is done straight away. But at weekends I do relax a bit more otherwise id drive myself mad with the 4 kids and hubbie home. But Monday morning I do top to bottom. This is the first house that Ive had a new kitchen and bathroom and all new carpets so its nice to take care of it.
I am generally embarrassed by my house...Where we live is fine..We just have no storage and 2 very messy kids!!
Likewise for me - although if I know someone is visiting - I sometimes go a bit mad with cleaning - I just feel happier that I made an effort. Most of the time it has a lived in look.

Yes i am house proud :party05: lol....but i sometimes wish i could just leave it for a day. I am not obsessed or anything, but i do like to have a clean house...it neednt be tidy, cos ds always has his railway out on the floor and other stuff. But i do like to know its clean. I just washed my stair carpet today..its got stain protector on so i just rub it with a cloth in warm water and it looks great..lol.
I spend most days doing my mums housework, then my mother in laws, then i fit mine in at some point during the afternoon. I dont do it thoroughly everyday...most days its just a quick hoover and a wash of the wood flooring and dust. :hohoho:

Yeah, mine is still generally the same, although as ds2 is getting older we have had a bit if improvement lately. Will be better than it is now, when the kids and dh go back to work, as with them all under my feet I seem to be constantly feeding them and doing dishes...oh and washing all the new clothes and jammies they got at Christmas, as they all want to wear them non-stop!!
I do try and keep it as nice as possible, although lived in, as I would hate it to be a tip of people came round out of the blue. The kids room is like fighting a losing battle, but will sort it again when school goes back. They have now got a tv and dvd player in their room, so I can stick a dvd on whilst I tidy now, so it won't be quite as boring!!
Mil is over tonight, so have to get cracking. Have to borrow a mates hoover, as ours is on the verge of death and we can't afford a new one this soon after Christmas!!

You sound like me. Have had to borrow mate's hoover, although going by the inch thick layer of dust all over it...I think he probably wouldn't notice if we kept it!!

house proud??? sometimes... but at the mo... no!!!!! well weve only been living here a few weeks and only managed to afford to decorate the frontroom before xmas..... and thats not how i want it... we just sort of painted the walls in ivory cream and laided a new carpet.... the rest of the house just looks like a dumping ground... everyroom...... but now xmas has gone im ready to get on with the decorating, then the old cleaning routine will be back into action...... my partner doing everythink... lol.........

my old house was a council house and it felt like i was fighting a losing battle, as my brother says "you can't polish a turd!" but i moved into my dh's house, just before we got married. It makes a difference when it's owned as everything you do in it adds value (well, maybe not if i'm let loose at diy!) but we have had new carpets and a new leather corner suite and nearly finished replacing all the doors so i do love to keep it tidy although dh does do a lot of housework too, he loves washing up! i like to keep on top of the washing and i feel a sense of acheivment everytime i can see the bottom of the laundry basket! but then again, i do like it to be lived in (although the kids aren't allowed to eat or drink in the lounge) they do bring the odd toy down but have to put it back when they've finished.
