anyone else ? Saw some gorgeous plants at the market today but did resist in buying tons ! Haven't done any winter pots yet but will do soon, I love pots outside by the front, it makes it nice and cheery on horrid days.

No I don't, isn't it the wrong time of year for gardening?? I love to see a nice garden and I love plants and flowers but ours is mostly lawn and that's how I like it!

I used to love gardening but have last heart lately as the men(boys really) aren't too fussy where the wretched football goes and if they don't knock everything down the dogs either dig up the plants or dig holes all over the garden. One does lose heart in the end and you give up (a bit like housework!)

I need to buy some plants. We got round to sorting out the garden this year and put in some borders. I am slowly filling them with plants but its costly so I am doing it a bit at a time. I planted some violas and pansies a few weeks ago as they will seed themselves and come back. I have already planted some bulbs for spring. I need more shrubs/climbers for height.

My climbing beans and my busy lizzies all need taken out at the weekend. My grass needs cut but as the garden is on a slope it is very boggy already so i don't think I can cut it:no:

I love spring bulbs. It's a good time of year to plant shrubs aswell. I know what you mean about the expense, I could spend a fortune on plants. Have you thought about growing some summer flowering plants from seed ? It's so much cheaper although a little bit more effort.

The problem with seeds is having somewhere to grow them, I can't be doing with clutter on my window sills. We grew some beans from seed this year but went on holiday and lost most of them. Only 3 plants did well but we had an amazing amount of beans from them. I intend to do more of those next year. I will plant them at intervals so we have produce for longer.

I want some rhubarb too but couldn;t find it last time I was at the garden centre. I'd like a raspberry or blackberry bush too.

I need a lottery win! We haven't started on the front yet. There is a huge area to block pave then I will have a border along the side of that to fill with plants.

I have never been interested in gardening but I have decided to give it a go. I'm going to try the old veggie growing so any tips would be great.

I am afraid I am completely useless at gardening. I love flowers, I love plants, I love beautiful gardens .... but give me a plant and I can guarantee with a week it will be dead. I dont know why. I have tried watering, I've tried not watering, I've tried 'vitamins', I've tried 'easy care', even weeds! I kill em!

I bought a tree (broom) for the garden and it lasted a week.

Our neighbours bought us a plant when we came back from hols and it lasted 3 days.

Percy Thrower I aint!

Oh dear !! When you plant a new plant you MUST MUST water it when you have just planted it. Maybe that's where you've had the problems ? Broom is really nice.

Hi Lemon

Yep, I've done that. My track record (since I was first put in charge of a plant years and years ago) is very poor!

The only only ever plant that didnt die was a bean samuel grew at school and bought home when it was a shoot and it ended up like a triffid (I am talking 5ft tall) and I was so proud but then one day I noticed it was COVERED with these aphid things so I had to put it outside and then of course it sort of .. well died.

Ho hum!

I even got one of those resurrection plants ... and I think I killed that hahaaaaaaaaa!

I'm the same. I bought some herbs and they are on my kitchen windowsill. The first thing my father-in-law said was "how long do you think they'll last"

I absolutely love gardening...i used to spend hours out there...now with my arthritis i have to do about 20-30 mins now and then....but i still love it. If i am feeling abit low or angry about something..sounds corny but gardening always makes me feel better :chillpill My garden at the moment has just the other day had its last grass cut for the year and had some weeds pulled out and tidied up so it looks ok for the winter...only thing i cant stand is the muddy patch in the lawn under my sons swing:angry: :ac39:

I like gardening, but not so much in the winter (the weeding)

I love to have lots of pots full of flowers

hi
I love gardening but like most of you with a very small family (2 yr old twins and a 5 yr old) it is sadly neglected. I need more hours in the day.
B&Q had a great bargain on variagated Hebe's last week-they were only a £1 It is always a good idea to keep an eye out for these DIY store bargains

Also remember not only to water when planted but also 1/2 an hour or so before removing from the pot as it reduces the stress of the 'house move' for them-probably the same as giving the removal men a cuppa!!

Planting at this time of year lets the root ball develop before the summer so that they don't need so much water.
My hubby is the veggie expert so can't help there-apparently the mice have got his carrots which has put him in a bad mood lol

I love my gardening and am just sorting out the garden in my new house.
My greenhouse is my haven and I love growing things from seed. I did the rhs horticulture course at college a few years back and I thouroughly enjoyed it.
