there were 3 people killed and 16 injured in saudi ikea yesterday after most had camped overnight to claim $150 voucher more than 8,000 had gathered doors were opened earlier because of the crowds.
This is so sad surley ikea must have known if they were giving out vouchers for that amount there was going to be a huge crowd there i dont think companies give any thought to what happens when they put on these offers

It's amazing isn't it?
I know when our "local" one opened years ago, there were mile long holdups on the nearby motorway as people queued to get there, let alone outside the store.
I waited about a year until I went near it!

OK, I'm putting my hands up - I'm an Ikea virgin. There aren't any stores in Ireland and I'm not about to join one of the numerous day trips over to Scotland just to go to a furniture shop (seriously! Stena Line actually offer the day trips!) But I fail to see what is being sold/given away in a furniture shop that is worth dying or getting injured for! It's furniture, not the elixr of youth!!!!

Ive not been to one for 3 years, I think theyre over-rated to be honest. They have the odd bargain but I think overall theyre quite expensive!!

To be honest I cant understand what all the fuss is. A lot of the IKEA stuff I have seen looks cheap and tacky. I dont deny some of the items are nice...however...cant understand the rush. Maybe the cafe does nice food!

If you like fish and chips or meatballs then the cafe is great.
We go up to the one in Bristol about once a year.Ive never bought anything major there but end up buying things like lamps, rugs and knick-knacks which are normally well priced.

If you are unlucky enought to live near an IKea you will know that they are busy ALL the time. I cannot believe that they didn't know the Edmonton one would attract so many people. They probably just thought that people would put up with the horrendous queues and traffic.
There's a bit of a joke going round the field which I work at the moment. Ikea call their self-assembly homes Bokloks and the English phrase that springs to mind for the contents of their stores is pretty similar.

:Hello2:
I like going to Ikea! (but then again I'm weird  ) I have an Ikea just 30 minutes away from my home and it's really huge (It's the biggest Ikea store in Asia ATM) and frankly a lot of people go there to look at the showrooms for home ideas. Ikea has brilliant contemporary home ideas especially for small homes. Some of the furnitures are nice (but again, I don't really hang around in other furniture shops so I couldn't compare  ) but it's actually the little knick-knacks that are great (in my opinion at least). I especially love their lamps, I get lamp-crazy whenever I go to Ikea!! But I think their fabrics are totally crap. Their bedsheets and pillowcases feel like gunny sacks (and overly-priced too) and their curtains look like they're made of the same material as Camilla Parker Bowles dresses ( sorry this is an insult, as a non-Brit I'm not sure I'm entitled to this opinion but I never liked her :P ). Ooo but their lamps... oo they drive me crazy! :help2:

I just can't get with this"queing for bargains" frenzy. And as for Ikea, no point in queing anyways as i wouldn't be able to afford anything, even at sale prices................giving away that sort of money though, hmmm, i would have to think about that one..................NOT!

I haven't been to an Ikea for years. I used to go for the tea lights because they used to be so cheap.I do like their childrens toys and bedroom furniture though.
Anything else is just way too expensive. :smiley-faces-28: :hissyfit:
Also found that it doesn't matter which day you go or what time you go it is always filled with people who are willing to fight you to get in the queue first. :angry-smiley-005: :angry-smiley-005:
I wouldn't go if I was due my monthly - you don't know what damage I may cause! :P
