Question for banner makers!

I'm in the middle of creating a banner for my site in Flash ... just wondered what format it is best to save it in?

I've always used jpeg, gif or animated gif. Animated gif if it's animated and the other 2 depending on how it looks.

Isn't flash swf? I'm not clued up with Flash (yet), hence why I use gifs.

my banner on mz was made using flash and I know it's saved as a .swf file
