Hi, do you have any hobbies that you could base a WAH business on?

It depends on how "at home" you want it to be and also how much time you can spare, can you put in funding to start up etc. You could do things like Avon etc but you'd have to get out and about a little. If you have a talent or hobby that's quite a good way to make a bit of money. If you have some money to invest you could start up a small business but that's probably not recommended if you just want a bit of spare money as it's slow going to build and demands a lot of time. What about doing things like typing for companies, ironing is another popular idea if there aren't too many around your area already. Dog walking, what about childminding? You may need to get qualified but maybe some people you already know might need the service while you do? There are lots of avon type things that are certainly worth looking at.

Hope that helps!

how about being a Truly Madly Baby consultant, you can take little one with you or do you have any interests that could influence you to start a WAHM business

Hi i sell both avon and usborne books and enjoy it :) It is a great time of year to join any direct selling company...all the legit ones are on www.dsa.org.uk

Avon is good for a bit of spending money and takes quite a bit of walking the streets to begin with but gets easier. I now have about 50 cusomters who order (not every time) and i think i muct earn about £25 a week from it - can vary by a lot though.

Usborne do childrens books and i like doing them because i take them along to softplay centers/playgroups and i also run bookfairs in schools aswell as house parties....IMO it has more potential and it gets me out and about with my girls. I will promote to teamleader this month too...so if you'd like any info just pm me :happy72:

Nics, are you an ebayer as thats an obvious place to start. Have you got any junk to sell. You'd be suprised what does well on eBay. If you have unwated CDs, books, DVDs, playstation games etc then list those on Amazon.

Make sure you do something you are interested in as it can be pretty slow to take off and if you are interested in something you are less likely to give up to easily!

I did telephone market research when I was younger. It was a nightmare. The only one that was okay was for a make-up brand. I was following up a sample they had been sent. It didn't stop people shouting abuse etc at me. I have done soft sales calls too (when I worked for a little marketing company) and I think if the lead is warm they can be very satisfying. It is very buzzy when you sell something. I do like talking though - always helps!
