Seems a bit odd to me that it was so rushed. For some reason I have never taken to her and I think a lot of that is to do with the way Diana was treated. I personally think there will be quite a bit of backlash over this!

According to the BBC new site:

Prince Charles will marry his long-term partner Camilla Parker Bowles on 8 April, Clarence House says.

The ceremony will take place at Windsor Castle and Mrs Parker Bowles will take the title HRH the Duchess of Cornwall.

When the Prince of Wales becomes King, Camilla will not be known as Queen Camilla but as the Princess Consort, Clarence House added.

Interesting news! - but I'm not sure that Charles will ever become King, especially now ...

Im not surprised, who knows how long this has been in the planning.

At least it will be a better marriage than the one he had with Diana as it is based on better things.

There has been some debate as to whether or not she will be called Princess of Wales I think...cant see that going down too well somehow! I dont think he will give the throne up, which is a shame, as I would like to see it go straight to William.

Im gobsmaked tbh.Me n dp disagree on this cos I dont think she should have any titles at all and if anything he should abdicate.

Too many people liked Diana and hated the way she was treated(and bumpped off in my mind)and cant see many people takeing to Cammila tbh.

I think Prince Charles should be allowed to marry whoever he likes so i'm pretty happy with him marrying Camilla. She's going to be called the Princess Consort so its not as if she is going become Queen or anything.

I also don't see why he should have to give up becoming King. Although i'm pretty surprised the Queen gave her blessing.

TBH it doesnt really bother me it was obviously gonna happen sooner or later!!He loves her and at the end of the day should be free to marry who he chooses and this shouldnt influence whether or not he becomes king

OOoo just heard on the news that she may be called the Countess of Chester which was originally princess Diana's title when she married Prince Charles who was the Earl of Chester at the time.

The hospital there is named the Countess of Chester after diana and both her and Charles attended the naming ceremony in 1984.Both myself and the kids were born there tho not too sure she should have a title that was originally Diana's seems a little innapropriate!!

Me and DH were discussing this yesterday and during the conversation it came up that the Queen is the Queen and yet Prince Phillip isn't the King.

Does anyone know why?

I can't understand why Charles and Camilla are wanting to marry, especially after so many years being together without it.

IMO they have been married already, as Diana said there were three in her marriage.

Here's hoping that William becomes King. :crossfingers:

Me, i couldn't care less! I never liked the way the royals treated Diana, Charles included, but he is entitled to his happiness the same as us normal folk!

Hi K8ELOU

The answer is 'becuase the Queen is the QUEEN' - or more acurately because the Title King takes Precidence over the Title Queen, when the throne is inherited by a female, her husband doesn't get to be king, otherwise he would outrank her.

Prince Albert was Queen Victoria's husband, and he stayed as prince; there have been one or two exception, like William and Mary, where she actually inherited the throne by blood, but he insisted on being king, but he could do that mostly becuase the sucession wasn't clear, and they basically deposed the previous king.

apart from that Kings have queens, but Queens have princes.

HTH and isn't too rambly
