I have had my first sale but its not showing on my admin panel. I can see the new customer but there is no order against the name, I have the Paypal payment.
Why wouldn't it be showing in the admin and how do I print an invoice if its not there? :ac39:

The famous Paypal problem. You would be advised to either put a note on your checkout to advise paypal users to click continue after processing their tranaction at Paypal, OR, enabling auto return in your paypal panel OR installing the Paypal IPN contribution. What this does is prepopulate the admin panel when someone clicks on confirm order and goes to paypal, and then if they don't return to the store, you will still have a record of the transaction in your admin panel. Paypal is THE biggest pain to work with this (especially when my stores are heavily modified). ""cutey""b Good luck!

It won't if the customer doesn't return to the store as it only updates on a successful order that comes back to your store. Until you can modify or fix as above, just keep and eye on your stock.

Thanks, I can't do anything just now as DP isn't here. His Mum died this morning, he is in Manchester and I don;t know when he will be back. I told him this morning we should put a message on the site to say we are closed. He wouldn't do it as we only went online last week. I'll just have to print the paypal invoice and email the customer as nothing will have been to her automatically.

Hiya, I have had this happen a few times with me where I have received the payment but no order. It is a bit of a pain and it looks bad from my point of view as I have to contact the customer to find out what they ordered and panic when they don't get back in touch, just in case someone else buys the same item they ordered! This has happened to me once and it is a nightmare!
Re the invoice because this is your first order (and CONGRATULATIONS btw) you won't have a template for the invoice as what I do in those circumstances is take one of other invoices and copy & paste it onto word, then change the details.
I always thought it was a problem with the web-design but now know that it is Paypal to blame.....grrrrrrrrr!:angry-smi123
And sorry to hear about DP's mum, hope things are ok hun. **hugs**

Hi,
First of all sorry to hear about your partner's Mum. :-(
We've never had a problem with setting up paypal with any of our sites - we set it up to use the Paypal IPN contribution. If it's oscommerce and not oscmax or zencart you will need to install the contribution.
HTH!

Karen - you have the paypal IPN installed on your site so there shouldnt be any problems with this occuring as orders should be logged before leaving the site. I install this as standard on oscommerce sites.
also - am sorting your links page, DH's bike accident has made everything be a bit delayed so thanks for bearing with me. Will get it up and ready asap.

In my admin panel it says:
'Preparing [PayPal IPN]: 0' Is this what it should say? I had a garbled Paypal email and I am wondering if the settings are right. There was two emails as I made a payment then refunded myself to test it.

Yeah with the paypal IPN it logs the order as you leave your site to go to paypal and flags the status as 'preparing paypal IPN'. If you then complete the payment and click on the final continue button the status is updated to 'processing' or whatever you have set it to be.
You do need to check that you have received the money if it says 'preparing IPN' as the customer can sometimes quit partway thru paying - which is why the status is set differently. It just solves the problem of people not clicking on the continue button and therefore not having their order logged.
HTH,

Hi, yes sorry to hear about your partners mum.
I had to shut down for over two weeks just after i had first opened - i also had a problem with getting orders to show in admin, i'd get the email telling me what they had ordered so it wasn't too much of a problem but it did take lots of time transfering all the info into a word document - in the end i closed down to have lots of things changed - the program was changed so that customers could just go away from the site if they wanted to - they no longer have to press continue, having the changes done did mess up my site a bit though so i had to work to get it all sorted.
I'd simply add the info that customers have to press the button for their order to be processed.
good luck - i had so many teething prblems with my site, it was so stressful - thankfully it all works wonderfully now.
