hellooo...

4 ne1 out there wondering wot do for the children with the odd £30 -> get a Giant African Land Snail as a pet!!! :happy72:

No mess, No noise, No smells...U only need 2 spray em with water every day or so & add a chunk of cucumber, banana, some watercress etc (experiment & u'll soon find out what they like!) plus change the compost roughly every wk...sorted!!!

We bought 1 4 our 7yo as he'd spent many a dinner hr at school collecting snails from the playground...& he loves 'Timmy'

Actually, & feel free 2 call me sad, :blusingan but they r interesting to watch & I have spent many a time just watching it...u can c when they r eating, the moisture along its neck alters plus when its climbing the walls of its 'house', the movement in its foot looks like interference on the tv as it goes up & down its body in waves...(that does sound a bit desperate doesn't it?)

BUT remember, only get the 1 as they breed quite quickly!!!

oh well, just a thought 4 u all, what with the big day just 16wks or so away...would Santa b able 2 get snails in lapland???:cheesy:

Thats a good idea actually, I have seen them on the telly but didn't know you could buy them here and keep them as pets. Might look into that, Thanks.:happy72:

Yes we watched that about a dozen times. Emily loves to find snails in the garden and slugs, who she thinks are homeless snails. She is always on about having a pet but I can't be elbowed with dogs and cats etc and I know if she has anything it will be me who ends up looking after it and I think this might be nice to watch.

Don't forget to give them cuttlebone too, they need this for healthy shells.
