Hi, I have someone who would like to buy a domain name that I am the owner of. I was wondering if anyone has ever sold a domain name and not sure how much is an acceptable offer for it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose it's worth whatever they are willing to pay. Daffs or Ravenfire would be the ones to ask I guess.

That was what dh said. Don't want to ask too high a price and I don't want to let it go for a silly amount iykwim.

I've been thinking, if you had a bit of money put by and a head for good ideas you could buy up some domain names that you thought might become popular and then sell them when people wanted them ;)

I've never personally sold one I alread had so I am not sure. It would depend on the domain I suppose. You can list domains on Sedo (http://www.sedo.co.uk/main.php3?tracked=&partnerid=&language=e) as that is one of the weel known domain marketplaces but as I said, it depends on the domain! I hate trying to price things. Perhaps ask them to make a offer?

Oh I see! Only you can decide if you want to let it go then! Any idea of what they want it for? If it's for business perhaps you can squeeze a bit more out of them?

It is a web agency that wants to buy it for a client. Think I will just take the offer as I am not using the domain name so might as well have some money from it.

I would be cheeky and ask for 10% more, it's all about haggling, say you are willing to sell but at the right price, but it's really down to you,

Let us know how it goes, well done you
