DS2 hasn't been out in a pushchair/pram and is 9 weeks old today... I'd recommend it to anyone and it certainly beats the prospect of a double buggy!

Just wanted to share!

I don't have any direct experience with stretchy wraps but they're popular... I've said on pregnancy forum that I think the best way to learn and sort out what you want is to meet with people who use them. www.slingmeet.co.uk :D

It looks a great product BUT how long can you carry a child in it it looks like it's better for smaller babies?

yeah stretchy wraps get outgrown, though they're cheaper than the mainstream carriers, often more comfortable for carrier and baby and last about the same amount of time. And they have decent resale value on ebay and the various buy-and-sell boards :)

I had a Kari Me which I loved but once I tried the Calin Bleu wraps moved on to those instead.

I love wraps and still use them with my fairly big two year old whenever she doesn't want to walk - so they don't have that short a life span!

no, woven wraps will last as long as you're comfortable carrying the child :) It's stretchy wraps, and particularly stretch cotton ones (I now stock a stretchy one myself, but it has hemp content which means it's more supportive) that have a shorter life, partly because they're not really suitable for back or hip carrying as they're often too narrow, and there's only so much you can do with a 2yo on your front!!!

Yey! The stretchies, like Kari-me, Moby, Babe Lulla etc, are fab for new babies, but are outgrown by the time baby weighs around 18lbs.
Woven wraps are more expensive, but last for.. well, as long as you'd want to pick up your child, a woven will make it easier. I still wear my 40lb DS1 in a wrap for an hour plus every day.

Then there are "hybrids" a mix between the comfort and supportive woven, and the poppable factor (meaning you can get baby in and out without retying so often) of a stretchy. These wraps are the dogs balls IMO, for a new baby, and a new wrapper. They are so comfy, and last (I can wear my heavy toddler boy in these comfortably!) They are usually a jersey/hemp mix. Brands such as Gypsymama Bali Baby Stretch, Hotmama, and MaM Eco Wrap (sold by our lovely Trog) If you are planning on buying a stretchy wrap, and can get your hands on one of these hybrids, I would absolutely advise you to do so!
