Ooh well done you!
I'm not really familar with shaped nappies.
I used Bimbles QD for Dd and brought a job lot and got discount from www.babykind.co.uk, I was then able to sell them when she grew out of them. I even used muslins when I ran out once (with a wrap)
I use pocket nappies as Dh likes them and they are quick and easy to wash and dry plus have a good resale value.
Hopefully someone here will give you a good recomendation for shaped nappies. Don't forget to look at ebay as they quite often have pre loved nappies on for sale, also you may be entitled to some money towards the cost of nappies from your local council, worth investigating.
How exciting, pm me if you need any links etc happy to help if I can

ok i am confused already lol....what are pocket nappies??
The quick drying sounds ideal as i don't have a dryer and my garden is tiny and a nightmare to get anything dry in it due to 6ft fences all the way round

http://www.babykind.co.uk/whypocketnappiesinfo.htm
gives you a more in depth explanation. With Pocket nappies you do have to buy a stuffing, but no wrap!
The stuffings potentially could take a while to dry, so a shaped nappy and laundry service might be ideal for you....

We use Fuzzis... there is some fab info on Treehuggermums about choosing nappies etc and the nappy lady too oh and twinkle on the web too...
I wouldn' go mad buying nappies just yet as different babies suit different nappies and you might want to try a few
Also check and see if you get a grant from your council

Both my dd's have worn cloth nappies, dd2 from birth and my personal favorites fo a newborn/very young baby have been bimbles, sandys xsmall and motherease rikki xsmall wraps. I love fuzzi bunz too and the small have fit her well from about 8 1/2lb. I personally found tots bots too bulky and had leaks with prefolds and runny b/fed poo's.
Our baby is due in november and we have bought nappies already as money will be tight in preparation for christmas...we have bought Bumgenius Pocket nappies and also prefolds and covers...will see what works :)

I use Tots Bots shaped terry nappies with a nappi nippa and a wrap during the day and bumbles at night. I've tried many sorts and found these really suited my daughter up to 2 years old and still using them. It's worth looking to see if a local cloth nappy company has a nappy trial pack which contains a variety of nappies to try on your newborn before you buy, or will give you a demonstration.
There are also other factors to take into consideration such as: drying times, ease of use for grandparents or if your little one will be in childcare. www.kittykins.co.uk is a very comprehensive site with star ratings and info for all the cloth nappies out there!

Hi
I'm using bumbles for dd - she was in bimbles for the first few months. They are shaped nappied which are dead easy to use, and have a soft fleecy bit on the inside. They dry fast relatively fast, which is important as I don't have a tumble dryer - and the fleece ensures they stay soft on the bum!
I'd really recommend them - 2 of my friends also used them and loved them. I got them from thenappylady.co.uk - they get you to fill in a short questionnaire and then recommend the best ones to meet your needs which I found really useful.
It's definitely good to get the nappies early - then you get a big cost out of the way and if you use them from day 1 then you never get used to disposables.
Good luck with it all!

I used every kind of nappy I think was available, I was a nappy addict but loved it! Tots Bots, Stuffie Nappies (my personal favourite) http://www.stuffienappies.co.uk/ and minki nappies.
Abbie stopped using nappies last easter but I have had to go out and buy a nappy & a wrap as she kept wetting the bed and Tots Bots have a new style of nappy "Fluffle" and they are really quick drying and it is such a cute nappy.

Good Luck and get in touch with your local napy rep as you should be entitled to a free nappy pack.

Hi Linzi
If drying is your main concern, check out the microfibre ones. Tots Bots do Fluffles and Nature Babies do the Micro-Diddy. These come out of the wash almost dry. I used original Tots Bots and can't fault them as a brand for quality & reliability.

My choices are stuffie nappies (hemp) and swaddlebees organic velour or swaddlebees hemp. The best I've used and I've tried a few!

Arrrrgh! I still have come to a desision about these! I really don't know what to do. I also can't find an agent round here.....it seams no one in town uses real nappies!!!
I have bought some disposables for now as she could be here any time but i still really want to use real nappies. Why dod they have to be so confusing?? lol
I used terry squares like my mum used to use. Sterilised them in a bucket overnight then put them through a boil wash in the twin tub. I may sound like 1950's housewife but this was 10 years ago (I was skint and couldn't afford an automatic washer!) I did have a dryer that my grandparents donated after a few months but before this found that the nappies were fine overnight on the radiators!
The only problem I did have was that my chunky baby was too chunky for the Boots plastic pants by the time he was 10 months and I couldn't find any others that didn't cost a fortune, so then started using disposables, but it might be better now.

the thing with stuff that does cost a fortune is that it can often be sold on for not too much less than what was paid for it (kiwi pie wool wraps anyone??)

Try using the 'nappylady' website (google search it), they have loads of advice and info about all types and brands of nappy.
You will also be able to get an idea about costs as well as they sell all the top makes.
If you can't find it message me and i'll forward you back with link!
(can't link at the moment as my posts are under 10!)

I am a huge fan of tots bots (I used them and now stock them)
But its always best to trial a few different types to see what suits you best.
