just read this in my local news and not to sure how i feel about it
whilst i understand that we are trying to stop the spread of infections ect why should taxi drivers have to hand them out
if you ask me its taking the rsponsability yet again form the people who are going to do it without protection
surely by doing this its going to make youngsters not worry too much about protection even more because the resbonsability is taken off of them yet again
youngsters shouldnt have to rely on other people to provide the protection
if they want to have sex they should be responsable for protecting theirselves and not expect someone else to provide it
anyways here is the full story what do you think ?

I think they'll already know :hysterica :hysterica

Seriously though, as long as you have to ask, maybe it won't be so bad.

Imagine : last minute flirt in the pub, back to their place, sh*t, no protection, hang on I'll ask the taxi driver.

Better than not using one!

OK so I have never done "one night stands" and lost one potential girlfriend because I wouldn't on the first date, but I know not every one is so fussy.

I am in two minds about this, i totally see and agree with what you say. It is taking the responsibility away from people but on the other hand i think it is a good idea, in the way that, it is going to help stop the spread of disese and unwanted pregnancies. Too many people (especailly youngsters (hark at me, im only 26 lol)) go out for the sole purpose of sleeping with someone, and i know from some of my friends (especially the female ones) they dont take preotection with them as they assume the guys will have some! Now if both the guys and gals think like this....which unfortunately a lot of them do.... then this scheme can only be a good thing can it not??

Mmm don't know really, people do sleep together on the spur of the moment and so I guess it is good that someone provides them with a condom to stop pregnancy and disease. I think for many youngsters protection is the last thing on their minds and so this is a hasty reminder. Ar what point do the taxi drivers offer them though, there are still plenty of people who don't automactically sleep together how embarressing if you hardly know your date and some burley taxi driver offers you one!!!!

I'm not sure...... I suppose in theory it's a good idea, as many people are still not practising safe sex, so if people are not going to be responsible for themselves, then maybe a helping hand is needed.

I think it's a good idea. Might be a bit embarrasing for those involved, but less embarrasing that a trip down the clap clinic two weeks later. (Not that I would know by the way!).

I am all for free condoms. They are rather expensive in the machines in loos now, which might be off putting for teenagers etc. When I was younger, I did always get mine free from the Brooke Advisory centre and places like that. I once sent my ex hubby for some as I had been having problems with my pill ,and when he came home with a big paper bag full he couldn't understand why after having a look I was on the florr laughing....................He had been giving about 50 odd gay ones!!!!!!!!

No pun intended......but he didn't last too much longer after that!

You know, I never knew there were special condoms for gays. You live and learn. Is it just a "gay" brand or are they significantly different in design?

(do I really want to know?)

I know that this is done a lot in gay clubs here, they usually have people going round the clubs handing out packets containing condoms (and some lubricant) and I think it's a brilliant idea. I really think it's something all clubs should encourage - some people don't bother waiting for a taxi.......

NH, the ones I saw from the club had some pictures on them (not the condoms the wrappers!) that didn't show men and women.

I think it is a brilliant idea. If free condoms are given in taxis, pubs etc then hopefully more people will use them and reduce the rate of abortions and STDs.

Sex is often a spontanious (sp) thing, we don't wake up and think right today I will have sex, so if you are out and the mood takes you it is great that you are able to get free condoms.

My couisn worked in a pub that was near the local area for prostitutes and behind the bar they had a big jar of condoms so the women could come in and get them free.

They are thicker apparently. Obviously more prone to tearing. Let's not get in to too much detail though!
