View Full Version : Just when things were going well....I'm so upset

Sorry to moan, I'm really upset.
As a lot of you know I had to move from my last house when my landlord kindly put it up for sale without telling me, I then moved into this apartment in October last year, being told by the letting agent that it will be secure (was a years tenancy to begin with and from then on would be carried on no problem)
This morning I got a letter from the landlord saying as it's coming up to the end of the tenancy, they are putting in on the market and I have first refusal to buy and if not then here is my 2 months notice.
I'm so upset, I really don't need this now, what with college happening soon I didn't need the stress of finding somewhere else to live. I've not told dp yet, I dunno what to do.
There's no way I can buy this as it's going to be up for sale at around £130,000.
I feel so guilty as all this moving is not doing ds any good, I can't change his school so don't want to move far.
Sorry for going on, better get looking at letting agents websites!!!

Sorry to hear that.
My ex and i had a house once, it was lovely, we were paying tha landlord our rent, wasnt much about 360 a month, quite good really at the time (about 5 year ago)
Anyway, after about 4 or 5 month, we got a letter, saying that he hadnt been paying his mortgage and that the house was being repossessed and we had a week to leave!!!!

stupid question, but have you tried the council?? your local council should have a list of reasonable rent private renting places that should be more secure...
is it worth a go???
I know how you feel, until we got this place (as much as i hate it...) we were moving every 6 months - year.. it was a nightmare.
Hope it works out ok for you....

Thankyou for the links Smirnoff, I will have a good read of those. Re: the council, it is probably worth putting my name down on the housing association lists but the waiting list is so long that I'd have to be housed in a homeless unit or somewhere for about a year, but should this happen again it would make sense to be on the list, so i'll do that.
The problem with rentals here is that as soon as they are on the market, they are snapped up so I'm going to have to phone up every day and bug the letting agents as by the time they get in the paper or on the website, they are already gone!!
On a positive note I've found 2 properties, (both brand new 2 bed houses) which are available now and I'm going to view them tomorrow morning. :crossfing :crossfing :crossfing A little bit more than this place but not a lot.

Went to look at the house today and it's lovely, they said I could have it!
But I need to move in as soon as possible so I need to find out from my landlord whether they'll let me go earlier than the end of the tenancy. :crossfing
If i wait til then the house will have gone, it's brand new so if I don't take it now it'll be too late. Waiting for landlord to ring me back. Sooooo much to sort out, and probably another month offline like last time. :hissyfit:
But the good thing is, the owner wants to let it long term, so I won't have to worry about being kicked out after a year. Phew.
