Sir Jimmy Savile has co-hosted the final edition of legendary music show Top of the Pops.
Other former presenters appearing included Janice Long, Reggie Yates, Edith Bowman, Pat Sharp, Sarah Cawood, Rufus Hound and Tony Blackburn.
Top of the Pops was first broadcast on New Year's Day 1964, from a converted church in Manchester but in recent years saw a marked decline in viewing figures due to plummeting singles sales and the growth of 24-hour music channels.
Are you sorry to see the end of TOTP?

I can't remember the last time I watched it, maybe 10 years ago, maybe more, TBH I won't miss it, half the stuff they show now on music channels isn't that good anyway

Been a while since I watched it as well, occasionally watch MTV and such but TBH I prefer listening to music, only like watching if it's LIVE
Can't believe MTV is 25 yo today as well!!!
So I guess the answer is no, not really

you see i have a strange opinion on this one...
I think the theory behind the show is fab and could really work, but i think more and more things they have done have added nals to the cofin iykwim.. things like
~ not having "live" performances - just people miming - a huge bugbear of mine
~ restricting the audience to 21 +
~ changing the day/time from saturday to friday and then to sunday
~by having totally cr*p presenters
But hey thats just my opinion....

 Nope won't miss it either. Used to LOVE it in the late 80's/early 90's when Bros/Bobby Brown/NKOTB :hysterica & of course Take That were around! It all got a bit sad these last few years really which is a shame but I'd rather have MTV etc on these days. x
No i havent watched it for some years now, same as others used to love it in the 80's and 90's. xx

It just couldn't keep up with MTV and all the other music channels but it leaves behind happy memories of being a teen and waiting for my fav band coming on and the excitement of knowing that they'd be on that night. It's something kids miss out on today, they know that Westlife (or whoever!) will be on again in about 2 songs time.
awwwww yes I will miss it !!!!!!
