For mothers day Arron planted two sunflower seeds at cubs and decorated a pot.
This is the result so far!

Taken on Friday.
It has gotten a lot bigger since then and we had to cut one of the heads off today as it was pulling it over.

We have never grown a sunflower before so are rather chuffed with ourselves. There are about 4 more heads growing now so goodness knows how big it will grow!

Wow! well done on growing them! The ones my kids have done at toddlers/school etc always grow ok in the pot for a while, until I transplant them outside ... what do I do wrong?

rid ic o los
That is far too big, must find out where our school is geting their seeds from, they MUST be buying the wrong ones, me n netty can't be doing anything wrong, but ours died almost as soon as the flowers appeared.

Ours could just be a huge fluke! We have never grown them before! Plus from the two seeds we have had 2 sunflowers and another 5 or 6 heads are about to flower - i think its a mutant sent to planet Earth to take over the world! :cheesy:
(Tim has just informed me that Day Of The Triffids was filmed just up the road from us- think hes winding me up! lol)

Just incase anyone wanted to know ......
Have just proved that it wasnt Day Of The Triffids but a tv programme called The Tripods that was filmed there in 1984 - Tim is now walking round with his tail between his legs! lol

OMG How cool!
I tired growing sunflowers as a child, I'm sure they only got to about half a metre tall, then toppled over! :sign07:
