A petrol price war could break out in the UK after two leading supermarkets cut the price of fuel. Asda announced it is shaving 3p off the cost of a litre of unleaded petrol - cutting the price to 76.9p.
The move could spark another round of price cutting on petrol station forecourts, almost one month after Morrisons triggered a pump war reducing the price of unleaded petrol by 3.5p to 79.9p per litre.
Sounds good to me..lol :D

Wow, I didn't know petrol is sold at supermarkets (they have pumps in front of the supermarkets or what?) and that their price and go up or down at the retailers' whim! Wow! That is so... marvelous! :party05: Over here you can get gas only from gas pumps and their price is fixed by the government. So when the government says up! It's up for every gas company! Never gone down though. We've just had another price hike about two months back :angry-smiley-044: .

We have so many petrol pumps here its daft , and supermarkets do tend to keep prices lower than others for compertion reasons i suppose

:angry-smiley-044: No Asda here in Northern Ireland, so Sainsburys, Tesco etc have said they will not be lowering their prices in outlets here.......typical!

Sainsburys, are very good with prices and if you spend 50 quid in store you get 5p a litre knocked off too

Yeah Blueberry - we are used to our prices going up as well - so its a welcome surprise when things like this happen!
Most large supermarkets now have a petrol station on site, and are in competion with each other for the shopping bills!
In fact, in my area, there used to be six petrol stations and garages that sold/repaired cars and also had petrol pumps on the forcourt. Then Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys moved in and they have all closed!! One car dealer is still open, but no longer sells petrol.
