who said it was 'fun' baking cakes with your kids??
my stress levels have hit the ceiling (along with the cake mixture)
omg....what a mess...i just haven't got the patience...
it started out as good fun...then ds got bored and wanted to put 'extra' ingrediants in....:ac39:
i know i shouldn't complain..:chillpill ..my kitchen is tiny, the sort where you have to put things away as soon as you've used htem else you run out of space. i bought a chair in for ds to stand on so he could 'help'..every time i turned my back...his hands were in everything...and dd screaming away (playfully!)
 maybe im just not in the mood for it today, well, its on the oven. it had better taste good lol...
sorry for the whinge :happy72:

Next time give him a bowl of his own and some ingredients and let him make whatever he wants.

Mine always lick the bowl out, when they start stressing me when we are baking I tell them they will not get to lick the bowl out if they do not behave.

Hope the cake turns out yummy.

GOOD IDEA, will try that next time (if we get a 'next' time lol.)

it looked a tad lumpy Kerri, i didn't sieve the flour  was i meant to?

It does go a little lumpy even if you sieve the flour.

Wow Andrea that looks soo yummy! I used to bake chocolate cakes with my nan a lot when I was younger!
The weather here is really dark and gloomy and I actually had to shut the patio door as I was cold!!

Hi
Your original thread made me smile - I often try to bake cakes with kids and like you have a very small kitchen - always a nitemare to clean up afterwards. Even more stressful was when I cooked with boyfriend's kids as well - they were a bit older, showed more of an interest and my younger two got jealous and started making a mess of boyfriends kitchen 20061008
Trying to sieve flour is also a nitemare as my little ones want to help and most of it does not end up in the bowl but everywhere else, around the bowl, on the table, down their clothes, on the floor, on the chair they are standing on etc.
Still looking on brightside, they love it when they are creative especially when it tastes yummy.
We often make more biscuits as it gives the kids a bit longer to play i.e. mix, roll out, using a biscuit cutter. Just got to keep them moving as often they think its playdoh and play with the mixture for half an hour and by that time, it doesn't always taste too good after cooking - lol

Glad your cake turned out ok
Hugs
