Stupid Q time.

Ummmm what do you do with a goldfish-what does it need n how often?Dp sorted it with water n gave it some food today-were do I place its bowl,how often do I do the water,how often do I feed it,does it need tiny toys or little stones in bottom of bowl???

with ours we fed them a sprinkling of food every 2 days dont put thwm in direct sunlight and small gravel bouht from the pet shop is good plus little ornaments for them to swim in and out and around also a couple of plant things plastic i used go to the local pet shop they will tell you what you need hun xxxxx

Did you get a lead for it, it will need a swim round before it goes to bed.

We used to feed ours every day, change the water every week and they had little ornaments to swim through. We got the plastic plants as well until they started to try to eat them and pulled them out of the gravel. We put the tank in the living room out of direct sunlight but not in the dark IYSWIM. HTH

:hysterica Ds won it at 10.30am yesterday so had to buy a bowl off the fairground persons stall otherwise it would have been in a bag til 6pm!!!!!We put it in our sunshelter then for the day in the bowl of water with bags etc around it to keep it in the shade.

oh no....don't....we had 2 pet rats..........they STINK (and we were allergic to them)...horrid things lol

We've got 5 fish atm, and we've got a filter and a pump so we dont need to clean it that often.

Have you used tap water? You need to dechlorinate the water as the chlorine will kill it, you can buy some drops to do that from the pet shop. Also when you clean it out, never change all of the water, just about 25%, you can use either dechlorinated tap water or some bottled water. :happy72:

Also don't feed too much each time, otherwise it will fall to the bottom and go moudly. hth :-)

Yeah he/she well it lol has tap water atm didnt know bout chlorine-have to go to pet shop dechlorinator.Dp said the bit bout only change bit of water.Lol it aint haveing friends not til im used to takeing care of one!!!"Doh"

If your off to the pet shop see if you can get a pump and airstone.

A fish gets oxygen by the surface of the water moving and as yours has a bowl it will be getting less oxygen as the surface area is smaller. It just needs the airstone to be blowing bubbles up to move the water around a bit.

Well the fish is still alive n kicking-god knows how cos me n dp are really new to keeping fish.Dp changed it last time but I had to change its water etc this time-what a gross job!!!!!"Doh" A wel done now.
