just been out for a ride and there are some Gypsies parked up on a piece of grassland and one of them was getting water, he'd fitted a stand pipe to a hydrant and was filling milk churns. Now just tell me why we are paying money to get our water out of the tap?!

:angry-smi123 that would infuriate me if I saw that happening, esp when I pay a fortune for water

Lol nice to see we can have a laugh about this type of thing. I would have been really cross actually if I'd seen it - how unfair!

was it a council run traveller site? if so I think they have to pay something towards it if they move in.
Sometimes they do actually own the land they live on, and then I assume they would have had to pay to be connected.
My cousin was a traveller for a few years, and her tales of how hard a life it was, and how badly they were treated, made me a little more sypathetic towards them. It also convinced me that however romantic it sounded, camping, for me, would be a weekend thing only!

No they had parked up on a patch of grassland near local Tescos! He had actually attached a standpipe to the water hydrant at the side of the road, probably not legal. I realise they have to get their water from somewhere but why should it be free, I had to pay water rates even when I wasn't working and was on benefits. Actually I couldn't camp even for a weekend, a luxury static caravan is as far as I'll rough it
