I saw this in our local paper a week or so ago.
The wedding was booked before the park was hired out for this "fun day". I think the couple and their guests should be able to enjoy the rides together, if they want to.
I really hope they can come to some agreement.

Most rides are in cars or sections of some sort why can't the wedding party be allowed to use the rides in that way. I certainly think they should get mega compensation for having their plans ruined.

eeh thats terrible for them, i think its totaly out of order. im not racist in the least but i think its things like this that puts a big divide up between races. i mean it would be races of us to have a christian fun day and not let muslim, hindu's ex there would be hell on. i honestly dont think its right. and for some one to tell you what you can and cant wear on your wedding day is bang out of order

It is alton towers who are to blame for booking both the events are the same time. I hope the couple manage to arrange an alternate date and get compensation from alton towers.
I feel sorry for the muslim community as they have done nothing wrong here but try and arrange a day out that all the family can enjoy.

I think the problem was that they were getting married in a matter of weeks, bit late to alter!! poor things.

I think the Muslim group is missing out on a great PR move here, they could allow the wedding party free reign and bend the rules, and they could get them something nice as a wedding present. Makes them look good and shows up Alton Towers as incompentant for double booking.

i think this is terrible.. and the report says it was about "breaking down barriers" yeah.. i would demand that something was done about it if it was me. Alton Towers issue, they need to sort it!
I wouldnt want to "have to conform" to another religion on my wedding day.. if i wanted to get married in just my underwear why shouldnt i????? (but its ok, im not going to do that!!!!!!)

I don't think the wedding itself is affected. It is the "first day of their honeymoon" that they want to spend in the park, so dress isn't so much of an issue - but being together with friends and family is, imo.

Alton towers really are at fault here and should offer them soem sort of compensation - they knew this couples plans before they booked 'muslim day'.

Resurecting an OLD thread here I know, but according to The Sun* (http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006350410,00.html) this Muslim day at Alton Towers has been cancelled.
(* I know, not the most reliable source! and I don't read it, found the story through a news aggregator)

Well that just goes to show that even the muslims themselves think it was a stupid idea.
I'm sure if muslims wanted to go to alton towers they would go, it obviously doesn't bother them if its a muslim day or open to the public day. Well done you muslims I say.

I didn't see the original article, but I'm disgusted with Alton Towers for trying to do that in the first place. :hissyfit:
No wonder it stirred up bad feeling.

I don't know if I can link to it, what are the rules, it's a popular jokey news aggregator with a discussion thread for each story?
I'll post a sample from the thread
