Can a 29 year old get away with wearing bunches or plaits in their hair?

Yes, if the bunches are low at the nape of the neck not high on the top like you do on your 2 year old.

I like my hair to be in a plait, keeps it nice and tidy.

By the way I am 34.

i think so my mum is 43 and she wore bunches the other week they were low ones and they looked really nice, i wera plaited bunches low and i'm 22

Yes I like my hair in plaits, low down ones and at the back but my dh hates it says I look silly lol.

My OH likes my hair in bunches or plaits not sure if i am brave enough to go out like that though

Yes go on, my neices in their early 30's do, i'd love to wear mine in bunches but far too old.
