lol..whilst im in the rant section lol..
i have called the highways agency about some hedges that need cutting down cos its so dangerous to cross the road. the cars come zooming along the road and its almost impossible to see whats coming until you are in the middle of the road. last time i called the was about 3 weeks ago. i called them again this morning and they said someone had ogne out but it wasn't important (can't remember the exact words). i even took photos to show them...if you're stood behind a tandem buggy its blooming difficult cos you're that much further away from the kerb...even with or without a buggy!.
she said she will reactivate the call and let me know what they say next time the go and have a look.....whats it going to take,....
wheres househusband? he was good at this sort of stuff!.

ive now requested that they put in a zebra or pedestrian crossing...i will give them a week or so to do something...then im taking it further...im sooo annoyed!...

i had a phonecall back from the highways agcy today, they said cos the bushes aren't 'overhanging' in the public highway he said there wasn't much he could do!..but they will send someone out to assess it again....
i said well what i can i do then, apart from chop them off myself..he said 'not a lot' theres laws out now for eg. if your neighbours bushes/trees are overhanging in your garden then you can cut them down, but this is not on anyones property....surely someone must be responsible!!..
they are also going to assess whether it needs a zebra crossing or something...which it does...they are building a new estate next door and doubling the size of Tesco which is going to make it busier for traffic and pedestrians...
im still not happy...will find out who the local counsellor is...how do i find that out?

thanks Snowy...you're a star, ive been looking and think ive found her!..it doesn't cover my area exactly but its close enough. if she can't help then she can point me in the right direction of the person who can....
and theres a section for highways etc...and while im there, we don't have a Sunday bus service or any bus service after 8pm so will enquire about that lol...feel like Victor Meldrew..
i will give the HA a week or so to make thier assessment then im seriously going to take action...get a petition if i have to...
im not going to give up...its far to dangerous and im surprised none of the other residents haven't complained (the ones that don't drive anyway!). and angry that the HA haven't acted upon it..
watch this space...i may be needing some help in writing/wording a email! i do tend to 'go on' and around the point iykwim lol

Happy to help.
Do you think you would be allowed to put up signs in that area so other pavement users would be aware that someone else is concerned with the bushes? At least then the idea would be in their heads as and when any further action is needed.

Your sign could read
If anyone else finds this a dangerous place to cross please contact xxx
where xxx is the name and phone number of the councilor(s) concerned.
If you don't know your MP you can find out who it is by putting your postocde in on this site.

(unfortunately, they work for you seems to be unavailable at the moment, but I'm certain it will be back)

RESULT :clapping:
the HA has just called and they ARE going to put in a crossing...mind you he said,,'in the long term' which i think means when they finished building the next estate...at least they've acknowledged it needs to be there....better late than never i suppose..
