 I went and do some shopping in bhs yesterday for a b/day pressie for my friends little girl, There was an assistant trying to get people to sign up for a store card of some sort after giving her my details she phoned head office to verify it all, when she came off the phone she said that I have not been excepted as the property I'm living in maybe Blacklisted this is the first time I have tryed anything like this(Getting a store card I mean) and I have been in my flat for 3yrs.
Can anybody tell me if this is going to for ever or if it get scraped after a number of years.
If not I want to move

I would get a copy of your credit report it may be the person living in the flat before you got it blacklisted and you will be able to get that removed if that is the case

You can request your credit report from companies like experian and another one I can't remember offhand.

They charge a fee - used to be a couple of pounds.

http://www.experian.com/
and
http://www.equifax.com/

are the two main companies used.

Just another thought - if, as you say, you don't have anything on credit, you will probably have a low credit rating - one of those things ... they need to see how you repay to give you a rating ... kind of catch 22!

I was in a similar situation and, although very helpful I know, a dd found an address where I wrote to explaining that this person no longer lived here and pointed out that I always paid what I owed. Maybe your local Citizens Advice Bureau could help you to find this address as I can rfemember it was dealt with quickly.

The only thing I do have is 1 Credit card which I only use once or twice a year But it does get paid off early.

I had this problem as I never used to have anything out on credit, but I have got a next card and a credit card now, and also I sent of for a copy of my credit report from experian and they sent me a 10 page detailed report on everything in my name for the whole of my life so far, and it only cost £2.

I was really surprised it has my next account on it and it details when and how soon I pay each monthly amount off, and same with credit card etc....you dont wanna be late, its opened my eyes up to a lot thats for sure.

sorry to hear about what happened to you, I would tho take this as a blessing in disguise, store cards are a total rip off if you do not pay them off each month, they have the highest APR around and add no value at all, if you can avoid them at all costs, you can get the experian report online I believe, it's something new.
