I work on the checkout at local supermarket and often hear men having a go at their children, they seem so impatient and I often want to pipe up don't speak to your child like that, today one man got right in his little boys face and said, 'You have been warned, I'll knock your head right off your shoulders' he was about 6 years old.

Sadly it's not just men, I hear women doing it too. It's such a shame that people feel so irritated by their children so much of the time. I know we all get cross sometimes and children are hard work, but it's such a shame that for some children it's all they know. Makes me feel sick at the thought of how some children are treated. Oh don't get me started......... it upsets me too much cryingsmil

Oh that's a disgusting way to speak to your child. There are people out there who can't have children who wouldn't speak like that, children are just taken for granted by some people. Unfortunately it's a bit like DP parents - they're a bit like that, DP mum is from a 'traveller' family and she says the c word and the f word like there's no tomorrow, even in front of Zack, but I'm too scared to tell her not to. I will learn to when he turns round and calls my nan a c*** though!

I agree, its not just men. When I hear either sex shouting and swearing at their children it really makes my blood boil.

No it's not just men but I guess it just seems so much more threatening for a big bloke to be talking to a tiny child like it, and usual at work it is the men.

There is nothing I can stand less than hearing a Mother swearing at her children, or even in front of them, especially when she is telling them not to fing swear. We've had a really peculiar lot this year at school. There are a group of Mums who stand outside on the pavement with a hard looking dog in one hand and a fag in the other. When their child comes out with their teacher they just call them instead of going into the paddock to collect them and you hear things like Oi s**t bag cum ere. Eeeewwwww makes my skin crawl. Poor little loves don't deserve it. All mine get when I pick them up is a big hug and a kiss cause I've missed them all day.

Shame about this is....it's getting worse..they were brought up like this (majority of them) so think it's alright to swear, and curse and treat there children badly, then wonder why they get no respect.
Everytime we are out shoping i make a comment to dp about how people treat or talk to their children. Georgie is really going through terrible two's (although as everyone comments she looks MUCH older - as she is so tall, and seems to be very 'forward').
A few weeks ago a child was playing up - i'd say about 4 years old and the mother 9who seemd to be with her mother or mil), grabbed hold of the little boy, by his elbow swung him to the floor, towered over him and shouted -''Right you fing shit, i'm going to knock seven bells of shit into you, and your dad will do the same when he gets in from work' - she was in his face poor mite - and all he;d done is pick something up off of a shelf!1
Few isles later we meet again - georgie throwing a tantrum as wants some biscuits - and i am saying no - so i say 'right naughty corner when we get home' and she says 'okay mummy'. Her mother or MIL said 'what a cruel mum she is wouldnt like to be her child'..i didnt hear her dp did as i was walking off with dd....
Makes you laugh though

That man sounds like the same one who comes in my shop where I work :ac39: And he seems to talk to his dp or dw the same cause she had something to say to him when I was serving them and well I won't repeat what he said to her:angry-smi123 .

I know what you mean Emma, as sometimes i think dp tlaks to dd too harshly - she is only 2.5 - i have to remind him to say things in a way she'll understand...
