to me this should have been the original as it is so like the book and just how roald dahl wanted it

I like the new version just as much as the old one. Took dd to pictures to watch it and thought I would hate it because I loved the original so much, but I think it is just as good.

My dh bought me the new one for christmas I have to say that I prefer the original one but my word isnt Johnny Depp gorgeous if a little strange on it! my two love both of them and would watch it continuously if allowed to

I like both of them, although I like the older version more.

In a lot of ways, I think that the new version is closer to what Roald Dahl intended when he wrote the book. (At least, Johnny Depp interprets the character more closely to the way the author intended him to be.) I don't care for the way they changed the story, though (telling the backstory about Willy Wonka's father, etc.).

I have the original on dvd - bought it in Tesco for under £3 a few months ago.

Still haven't seen the "new" one.

the new one is more true to the book, but i like the songs in the old one.
