Trying to get dh to go and find out about having a vasectomy and he's getting really silly about it, he's scared and tells me that men that have it done lose their marbles. Apparently the consensus at work,(male dominated) is that all the ones who have had it done have gone mad as the sperm go to their heads:hysterica

My dh told me in the sept he would go after christmas and have a vasectomy, by the Oct I was pregnant with dd3. So I asked if he was now going to go, his reply:
"no, why mess with something that works, it might not work afterwards".
I arranged to be sterilised in the end.
:hysterica not heard that one before.
My dh has had it done and he makes the jokes before others get chance like yeah i'm a jaffa ... seedless but he does tell horror stories to other men who are thinking of having it done.

Have you got two bricks outside, offer to do a home one for him, maybe that would get him moving pretty quickly to the doctors..lol! Its very common though I think a lot of men feel uneasy about that area being medically "fiddled with"!!!!

We watched River Cottage the other day and Hugh was having his bull calf seen too, DH had to go outside:cheesy: said it made him feel odd, sort of running your nails down a chalk board cringe making. Don't suppose i could persuade him then......."Doh"

My, how I chuckled to read the earlier comments. My dh had it done after no.4 but no.5 still appeared. He didn't go on any waiting list next time and the surgeon wasn't taking any chances of no.6. or the risk of being sued. The result of the failed one is a super 18 year old now and I bless the surgeon for his failure.

Be fair, I don't like the idea of my bits being messed with, had an op down there before, and it HURTS.
But I don't think it makes you go mad!

Apparently here we have a wating list of 18 months for the 'snip'. Dh thinks it might be an idea but am trying to persuade him against it for several reasons.

Why are you against it Ellie? just curious.
I have thought about "the snip" but it does seem so final to me. I know they do it in a way than can be reversed, but the reversal op is not always 100%
Then I wonder why I worry about not being able to reverse the op. I'm quite happy with the family I've got, so what's the problem.
Apart from the pain, I think there is a temendous pschological barrier. Men are here to procreate, and to voluntarily remove that ability seems a very BIG STEP even if you think you've done all the breeding you'll ever do. It feel very much like removing a big part of what makes you, well, you.
I suppose I've thought about it more as I have been through a situation where surgery could have left me sterile. Luckily (and obviously) it didn't as we have DS and DD.
The pain is supposed to not be so bad, I know a friend who had it done, said it was not so bad, but think about how delicate everything is down there, the imagination works wonders at working you up to thinking it'll be agony.

one of our drs at the surgery does it as part of his normal day, you sit there with everyone who has a cold, or any other medial problem then get called in and within 15 minutes they are out, walking a bit funny though, lol, when my friends hubby had it she went in to hold his hand and watched the whole thing then described it to me and anyone else who would listen, lol cant persuade my dh to have it done he goes a funny colour when i mention it and changes the subject quick
