are 'real' nappies to use and clean??
I am seriously thinking about them for this baby (not due till dec) but there is one thing that is putting me off. From easter through till oct every year we go camping a lot, almost every other weekend and then for 2 weeks in the summer too. I am really been put off by the fact i will have to have a bucket full of dirty nappies in the tent then in the car on the way back?? not all of the sites we go too have the facilites for washing so this won;t always be an option.
Has anyone else who used these nappies been camping with them successfully?? Is it going to be a lot easier then i am imagining? or am i better off sticking with disposables?
many thanks, Linz

Real nappies are simple to use & clean but I don't know about campsites, think I would tend to take disposables with me. To be honest this is what disposables were made for in the first place! I took mine on holiday with us everytime, some places we had a washing machine in the cottage and others there was laundrette.
At home using & washing nappies could not be simplier, I used to stick them in a nappy bin (no solution) and wash every 1 and half to 2 days - the washing machine done all the hard work.
Camping is good fun but can be hard work and you don't really want to be washing nappies all the time, so chill out take the disposables for your hols and don't feel guilty about it and use the real ones when you are at home.

I agreee with Trinity!!!
I NEVER thought that I would use real nappies but I do I'm even on the verge of becoming a nappy agent.
My favourite nappies are pocket nappies esp Fuzzi Bunz, feel free to pick what little brains I have left !

I agree too, not sure I would fancy trying to deal with cloth whilst camping.
Cloth are fantastic normally though, and you get into a routine of storing/washing. I think Tots Bots are fab!

Hi Linzi
Washing and using real nappies are so easy especially the shaped variety (Love Tots Bots too BTW) - and as Trinity says, the washing machine does all the hard work!
I do know of some people who take their terry squares and handwash them and line dry them when camping, however disposables ar by far the easier option! When I went anywhere with limited washing failities, I would take a mixture, so I would be able to use my cloth some of the time, and disposables if I had to. It did mean that I brought back a bagful of wet nappies, but they went straight through the wash at home. I would put them in a waterproof bag, then put that in a crrier bag just for good measure whilst storing them and in the car!

Thanks for all the replys everyone, i think it may be a case of using them both as you say. Shame really as i ws hoping i wouldnt have to. Never mind lol
thanks again everyone x
I used real nappies with my boys but on holiday I used disposables as it would have been impossible to deal with real ones, buckets, laundry etc while away.

I use Weenees biodegradable pads inside a Bambino Mio wrap when we are camping. I am having to double them up at night but they work a treat and I only have to rinse the wraps through.
You can flush Weenees as well (you flush half at a time) so that you can get rid of them completely instead of putting them in a bag in the bin

Hi! If it's any help we always used cloth nappies, but when we went away we used eco friendly disposables so we didn't feel as guilty! If you've got a Sainsburys near you, look out for Nature nappies - they're the only highstreet place to do eco disposables - other than that you have to go mail order.

I used disposables once when we went away to steam rallies with our old lorry for 11 days (so similar to camping). Never again - the wretched things leaked and leaked (due to DD's long body matchsticks for legs). After that I took things like Disana tie ons - soak in Nappy fresh, rinse, wring and hang to dry or take a trip to the launderette, and Fuzzis stuffed with prefolds. However these days I think I'd go for a few Fuzzis and micro inserts, very easy to wash and dry quite quickly.

i agree with miranda but have to say the more eco friendly disp's are a good idea when camping. I took cloth everywhere except for holiday and then used eco disp.
Can't say my dd like them though as she always took it off as so aswe got home and got one of her stuffies out her box lol
