BBC TV series would love to speak to parents of 0 – 12 year olds! Can you help?
The BBC is developing a documentary series which will illustrate the issues around being a parent – especially highlighting the experience of teen parenting. The series will be a social experiment featuring a hand-picked group of 16 to 18 year olds who feel ready for adult life.
Over a short period of time, teenage couples will have the experience of living independently from their parents and given a taste of the responsibilities associated with adult life.
We are exploring the possibilities of the teenagers trying out the biggest challenge of all – parenthood. We are developing ways in which they could be given an extended “babysitting†experience, where they would be asked to care for a baby or child under 12 for a few days.
We would love your input
As you are a parent of a young child, we would be very interested to speak to you about the project, particularly the childcare aspect. We would be keen to gauge opinion from parents of 0 – 12 year olds as to how they would feel if their children took part as part of the childcare experience for the teens. We’d like to explain in more detail what we’re planning to do and how we’re planning to do it. And we’d like to find out whether you’d consider becoming involved.
The BBC aims to make a documentary series that will not only help the teenagers involved make more informed decisions about their own future but also educate watching teens about the reality of being a parent. We have the backing of several well respected child-focussed organisations and charities. If can spare 5 minutes on the phone, we’d love to talk to you.
Love Productions is an independent production company who make high quality factual programmes for all the major broadcasters. We have a long and award-winning track record in producing programming about sensitive social issues. Our last documentary was Channel 4’s ‘Tony Robinson - Me and My Mum’, where we followed Tony caring for his mother who had dementia.
