I've just bought a debbie bliss knitting book the patterns in it are lovely but im having trouble either getting hold of the correct wool or its to expensive, does anyone know if it matters what type of wool i use?

I hardly ever use the correct yarn for the pattern I'm using as they can be so expensive. As long as the yarn you choose is the same type of wool, same ply etc, you should be ok. Do a tension square if you're not sure. There is some wonderful wool around at the moment for £1 a ball. We are selling very similar in the craft shop I work in for about £5.00 a ball. The shop keeper will tell you that the results wont be the same or it wont wash well but I've never had a problem. If you're not sure, knit a square, and measure it, hand wash, then measure again, if it washes up ok the first time you're probably pretty safe. Hope that helps.
