I tend to get the cat pills that you put in their food.

I use 4fleas (http://www.johnsons-vet.com/?sid=4fleas-facts)when my cats get fleas and they really seem to work.

Unfortunately they are NOT preventative but they are available in pets shops and cost about £8 for 6 tablets

My mums dog is allergic to fleas so the vet always gives her Frontline.
