my mum and dads 1 year old patterdale terrier has developed cataracts in both his eyes, the vets have done countless tests on him as it is so unusual for a dog under 5 to develop them, they have ruled out brain tumours or diabetes and they have been told it will cost £1200 per eye to remove the cataracts, the dog is now completely blind and my parents are devastated, they are on pensions and disibilty benefits,i have been trying to find a charity today that can help them fund the op,i think i have found 1 that will help but any suggestions gratefully accepted.:crossfing

have you tried the PDSA? My nan has a kitten and she gets a discount for the jabs and things as she is on benefit.

Hope this helps lindy

i would say the PDSA too. i went there MANY years ago and they had a donation box where you could just donate money rather than pay..you had to take proof that you were on benefits though

PDSA here too, We took our dog there many moons ago and they sorted him out when he had a prostrate problem. I'm sure there is an organisation called the blue cross too, they may be worth looking up. Hope every thing goes ok for him.

Thankyou girls x

my parents are members of the pdsa and apparently they have said they do not fund this type of non essential operation and only help with medical bills,we have found a charity called the centennary trust fund that may help and the vets have applied for the funding but i think they only help if the animal has been injured in an accident,a charity called tail waggers have offered £100 if we can raise the rest of the funds.
