Hi Ladies,
I'm going on maternity leave soon and I'm considering working from home rather than going back to work. I would really appreciate any suggestions. I'm not really interested in child minding as I will have 2 under 2s.
Thanks,
Tanya

What about buying a franchise if you have any funds. Something like Jo Jingles or Messy Monsters?

not exactly from home but what about shopping for other people?
Hi Dawn
I work for Usborne books, which is great and fits in around the kids. I have a nearly 3 year old and it's working out a treat for me :) The start up costs are low (£38 - for which you get over £100 worth of books and stationery) and there are absolutely NO sales targets. It's your business so you can run it however you like.
If you want more information drop me an email on liz@thatsnotmymonster.co.uk you can also have a look at my website - see below :)
Good luck with whatever you decide

I work for a company called Truly Madly Baby which is a party plan business. The cost is £135 for a starter kit (15% commission) or you can be an associate member for £40 (10% commission) and sell to friends and family, drop catalogues off at local businesses, peoples door etc. You are not pressured into sales targets or anything, you choose how often to do the parties. You can do these in peoples homes, nurseries, summer fayres, mum & tot groups and you can take the kids with you if you like.
Just an idea

hi Dawn
Are you into arts and crafts at all?
One of my web design clients runs a business called Craftykidz and they run craft parties and classes in the UK (various locations). I updated the website 2 days ago with job availability:

They look like something fun to do that you can take your own children along to too :)

Hi, i launched a web shop 2 months ago, i have 4 kids, 14, 8, 8 and 3 - tis hard work and i am struggling to fit in work and a homelife - most of my time is spent trying to advertise myself just now - just had my 50th customer though so cash is coming in - does take quite a large amount of capital though but that rather depends on how many products you sell and how much stock you need.
Crafty things do seem to sell well so maybe you could design a range of something and then try to get someone to sell it in their shop - i have a friend who is doing just this and i will be selling her stuff in my shop.
My mother did avon recently but gave it up after just a few weeks, she lives in quite a posh area so i think that most of her prospective customers might have been a little too posh for Avon, she also has an online shop and makes her own vintage tiaras.
You can't knit can you - i am after someone to make me handknitted cotton cloths?
Now this might be a good idea - when i have to source my products it takes me ages and ages, weeks and weeks sometimes - how about setting up a company on the net offering to source products for companies? Don't know how you would price it and you would have to be a member of all the wholesale companies but you would simply build up a dictionary of all the products and companies. I am struggling to source a product in germany just now and someone to do my knitting or just a supplier, i don't have time to do it - or you might not even have to take on individual customers, you could work like one of the wholesale companies but on a much better basis, charge a yearly fee. I joined the wholesaler and found it so frustrating, it offered general information but nothing precise.
A company have just set up locally doing similar on specific products, they have a forum on the website which will generate all their custom, they have added their own info for now but when they get customers who have to pay a yearly rate to advertise it will be big business for them.

Thanks Anne,
Last time I knitted something it took me just over a year to finish so I don't think I would be much use to you.

Hi Dawn, I have a client who is looking for people to work from home who don't mind using the telephone and are confident to talk to lots of different people if that's any help? It's sales but not hard sell and is very flexible!
PM me if you would like some further information. Good luck with finding something! ""cutey""b
