My darling staffie was rushed to the vets on Sun night as she was seriously ill - it was completely unexpected and she had to undergo surgery yesterday which thankfully she seems to be pulling through from. We got pet insurance as soon as we got her, even though we were absolutely broke at the time and could quite honestly have thought of better ways of spending £18 a month! The bill alone so far from the emergency hospital is £900 and she was transferred to her own vets this morning where she will be for at least a week, receiving care and medication which will amount to at least another £500 - all we had to pay was the excess of £80 - phew! I've never been someone who thought they would be prepared to remortage their house for their pet but she was in so much pain that I would happily have gone bankrupt for her - at least we could tell them to do whatever knowing that we could afford it - I know sometimes people think pet insurance is such a waste of money, but trust me, from my experience this week, it's not. Rant over!! Am just glad my dog is on the mend and feeling happier and will be home (hopefully) this time next week
